Now a resident of Germany, Xu Feng Xia who graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, has developed a uniquely Chinese brand of jazz blues. Such innovation is only possible through her familiarity with Jiangnan folk music, Mongolian ballads and the traditional arts of Northern China as well as her intimate knowledge of the human voice, folk songs from the North West region, and musical instruments like guqin, guzheng, sanxian and liuqin. Xu Feng Xia will take centrestage with famed Chinese banhu musician Huo Yong Gang - singing and playing simultaneously. Several newly-commissioned works will also be premiered in this concert.
