The 28th Annual Bistro Awards gala took place on March 4, 2013. Unlike most other awards shows, the Bistro Awards is an evening filled with great performances from the winners - stars as well as talented newcomers - who represent a wide variety of styles from the worlds of cabaret, comedy, and jazz. Forever Dusty, the hit new musical about the life and times of legendary British pop star Dusty Springfield, celebrated its 100th performance with a one-night-only Sing-A-Long performance last night, February 13, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Audience members at this special performance were invited to participate and sing along to Dusty's greatest hits, including 'Son of a Preacher Man,' 'You Don't Have to Say You Love Me,' 'I Only Want to Be With You,' along with other classics included in the show, like 'Wishin' and Hopin,' 'Tell Him,' and many more.

It's always hard for me to come up with the best of anything in entertainment. With my backstage theatre background, I'm obsessed with detail, and I can't simply sit back and enjoy any show. As a writer, I'm obsessed with the words, the sentence, the grammar, etc., and I can never read strictly for pleasure. In the pressure cooker of coming up with the best picks for 2012, I have a mixed pot.

Stephen Sorrentino wowed Hollywood with the West Coast Premiere of his hit show VOICES IN MY HEAD. Celebrity guests and fans who walked the red carpet on opening night include Doris Roberts, Joanne Worley, Todd Sherry Ruta Lee, Anne Jeffreys, Joan Kean, Lon Haber and Chuck McCann, as well as legendary Hollywood publicist Ed Lozzi, with Nic Novicki of "Boardwalk Empire" and teen stars and filmmakers Tara-Nicole Azarian, Isabella Palmieri, Allie Carlton, Kiana Lyz Rivera, Trent Carlton and Brandon Tyler Russell. On Wednesday August 22, Group rep presented a special performance of their critically acclaimed production of Jon Robin Baitz' Paris Letter to an SRO audience. Baitz was in attendance and did a talk-back after the show. Below are photos from the evening! Cast on hand included Larry Eisenberg, Lloyd Pedersen, Dan Sykes, Alex Parker, Julia Silverman and Paul Cady. Director Jules Aaron was also in attendance, as well as producers Patrick Burke and Sherry Netherland.

The Paley Center for Media just hosted FOX's Fall Previw, which featured a panel with:From Andrew Mogel, Jarrad Paul, Will Forte, Brannon Braga, Rene Echevarria, Sherry Bilsing Graham, Kevin Rahm, Liz Meriwether, Zooey Deschanel, Rob Wade, and Paula Abdul.

Lost in the Stars, the second Encores! production of the New York City Center season, running February 3 - 6 at City Center, will feature Chuck Cooper, Daniel Breaker, Patina Miller, Sharon Washington, Daniel Gerroll, John Douglas Thompson and Sherry Boone. Lost in the Stars has music by Kurt Weill and book and lyrics by Maxwell Anderson. It will be directed by Gary Griffin and choreographed by Chase Brock, with music direction by Rob Berman.

Yesterday, August 19, the cast of Roundabout's Tigers Be Still, a new play by Kim Rosenstock and directed by Sam Gold met the press. BroadwayWorld was there and brings you photo coverage below. On Monday 1/19 MGC Productions hosted a star studded event, Broadway Speaks Out: Live at The Duplex. Broadway Speaks Out is an online talk show that features Broadway performers speaking out about how their careers have influenced the LGBT community. The evening featured Anthony Hollock and Allison Guinn (Hair), Brian Charles Rooney (The Three Penny Opera), Hannah Shankman (RENT Tour), Rob DiCaterino, Michael Burbach, Elliot Roth (Our Sinatra) and Jenn Lederer, Both of whom are in the upcoming production of Midwtwenties:The Show. The concert also had a special guest appearance by internationally known drag performer, Sherry Vine. Martin Gould Cummings, the artistic director and founder of MGC Productions hosted the evening. MGC Productions is a fiscally sponsored theatre company founded by Martin Gould Cummings and his partner Anthony Hollock. Their goal is to bring the LGBT cause to the forefront through theatre, media, and music. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present the upcoming New York premiere of Distracted, by Lisa Loomer, directed by Mark Brokaw. Distracted will begin previews on Saturday, February 7th and open officially on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). The Distracted cast met the press and BroadwayWorld was there. The cast will feature Peter Benson (Dr. Broder, Dr. Karnes, Dr. Jinks), Shana Dowdeswell (Natalie), Lisa Emery (Vera), Natalie Gold (Dr. Zavala, Waitress, Carolyn), Matthew Gumley (Jesse), Mimi Lieber (Sherry), Aleta Mitchell (Mrs. Holly, Dr. Waller, Nurse), Cynthia Nixon (Mama), Josh Stamberg (Dad).

Alan Alda stopped by the New World Stages to visit his old M*A*S*H television castmate Jamie Farr and his current co-star Anita Gilette and catch a performance of their hit Off-Broadway comedy, Flamingo Court.

On Wednesday, April 18th, Disney's Beauty and the Beast celebrated its 13th Anniversary with Broadway's biggest cast photo and party.

The star-studded 79th Annual Academy Awards were held at the Kodak Theatre in L.A. on February 25th!
