BWW Review - ZACH's A CHRISTMAS CAROL Cures The Scrooge in All of Us
by Joni Lorraine - Nov 29, 2018

Over 100 new people move to Austin every day. And before you wonder why I've started a theatre review with that statistic, it means 36,500 new Austinites have not seen ZACH's A CHRISTMAS CAROL. This perennial favorite, running at ZACH every Christmas season for the last three million years (Okay, really, what is it now, four years?) adds much merriment to the Austin holiday season, and Austin theatre in general. It showcases the best of our community, and is top notch entertainment for those looking to bask in the joy of the holiday season. It's a perfect show to share with the family in town for the holiday - and a great representation of Austin's talent for the newcomer.

Photo Coverage: First look at Ohio University Lancaster's THE DROWSY CHAPERONE
by Jerri Shafer - Nov 25, 2018

The DROWSY Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and 'The DROWSY Chaperone' begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Rated - PG. SHOWS/DATES: Thursday, November 29 - Sunday, December 2, 2018 ONLINE TICKETS: https://commerce.cashnet.com/oul-theatre

Review: PROVENANCE Centers on the Lives of Two Women and a Very Rare Book
by Shari Barrett - May 11, 2018

Perhaps the best way to start writing about Elizabeth Gregory Wilder's play PROVENANCE is to share its definition, as it pertains to the history of ownership of a valued object or work of art or literature, not the capital of Rhode Island. Now being performed at Little Fish Theatre in San Pedro's Arts District, directed with loving reverence by Holly Baker-Kreiswirth and produced by Tara Donovan, the play centers on a rare book search which leads to an isolated library, and librarian, on the top of a hill in an identified area. Perhaps the best guess, according to the director and cast, would be the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
