The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry and the UConn Puppet Arts Program will present the 2018 UConn Fall Puppet Slam on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at 8 p.m. in UConn's von der Mehden Recital Hall located at 875 Coventry Rd, Storrs, Conn. 06269. The UConn Fall Puppet Slam will feature short works by professional puppeteers and performers from around New England, including Hilary Chaplain, Kali Therrien, Mindy Escobar-Leanse, and Anatar Marmol-Gagne, as well as new works by Puppet Arts students and puppet animation films by students from UConn's School of Fine Arts.

Hailed as "the world's greatest tenor" by The Telegraph, superstar German tenor Jonas Kaufmann returns to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on Friday, October 5 at 8:00 p.m. for a special one-night-only performance of hits from his bestselling album You Mean the World to Me. Accompanied by Orchestra of St. Luke's, under the direction of conductor Jochen Rieder, this concert features hits from Germany's Golden Era-a time when operetta and popular song were flourishing-ranging from the unbeatable hits of the "Golden 20s" to the songs of the new "talkie" era.

It was announced today that Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan ('The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' 'House of Cards') has signed on to executive produce the series 'Femme,' based on the short film of the same name that is currently on the festival circuit. Brosnahan also executive produced the short, which hits queer streaming service, Revry, on September 21st.

The Orchestra Now (T?N) will launch its 2018 fall season with two concerts in its popular Sight & Sound series at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The opening performance on September 30 is Mahler and the Feminine Ideal, juxtaposing the works of Klimt, Schiele, and Picasso with Mahler's Kindertotenlier sung by baritone Michael Anthony McGee. On November 18, the second program features Avery Fisher Career Grant winner pianist Orion Weiss in an afternoon of Chopin, Delacroix, and theRomantic Impulse.

Writer/performer Michael J. Feldman world premieres his long-incubated FAIRY TALE THEATRE 18 & OVER at The Pico, opening September 14, 2018. We had a chance to query Michael on how he turned a bad date experience into a full-length stage musical.

 Steppenwolf Theatre Company opens its 43rd season with a fiery, provocative new work from Pulitzer Prize-winning ensemble member Bruce Norris, directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon. Downstate is a co-commission and co-production with the National Theatre of Great Britain. Chicago will continue to produce some of the most exciting theater in the country throughout Fall 2018.  Offerings from the city's more than 250 producing theaters include a range of special fall programming, featuring everything from the latest musicals to highly anticipated world premieres.

CPR - Center for Performance Research is thrilled to announce its 2018 Fall season. Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, CPR supports the development of new works in contemporary dance, performance and related forms. For its 2018 Fall Puppet Forum Series, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will host three free scintillating discussions with puppeteers and artists on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. in Sept. through Dec. at in the Ballard Institute Theater, located at 1 Royce Circle in Downtown Storrs.These forums will illuminate new perspectives on the creation, history, aesthetics, and performance of puppetry today.

The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College is one of New York City's outstanding institutions in the training of theater artists.
