Carolyn Lucas was studying dance in college when a friend took her to see iconic postmodern dance choreographer Trisha Brown (1936–2017) and her eponymous company at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The experience changed her life and launched her career, according to Lucas.

One of the most effective things the musical gains by moving from page to screen to stage is permission to reframe the story without betraying it. The legendary composer and lyricist passed away in 2021 at the age of 91 after a long and extraordinary career. Perry, speaking onstage at NYU Skirball Theater, celebrated the Legacy Festival commemorating 40 years of dance making, educating, collaborating, and innovating. The Legacy Festival concludes a week-long run of six different programs compiling works by internationally acclaimed choreographers. 'It's only fitting to have such a sensational lineup of events to celebrate this momentous anniversary,' says Perry. 'We couldn't be more excited to welcome audiences old and new to celebrate with us.'

The USC Dept. of Theatre and Dance will host dancers from the legendary Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, performing alongside the USC Dance Company, April 1-2 at the Koger Center for the Arts.
