More than 35 years after Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID premiered in theatres, the beloved animated classic continues to capture the imagination of audiences across generations. Following the success of the 1989 film, the story made the leap to Broadway in 2008, where it found new life as a stage musical that has since toured internationally and become a favourite among regional theatre companies.

Ensemble Theatre will present a revival of David Williamson's TOP SILK, directed by Artistic Director Mark Kilmurry, starring Rachel Gordon and Nicholas Brown in a satirical look at law, family, and ethics.

Stockard Channing makes her directorial debut with Samuel Beckett's KRAPP'S LAST TAPE at Latitude Festival's 20th edition, starring David Westhead, before the production heads to Edinburgh Fringe.

Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO)’s Linda Koehn General and Artistic Director, Michael Egel, has announced the repertory for the company’s 2027 Festival Season. It will features a new production of Jacques Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann, a new production and company premiere of Philip Glass’s Orphée, and the revival of the company’s acclaimed 2017 production of Benjamin Britten’s Billy Budd.

Mirvish Productions announced the North American premiere of TOHO's Japanese stage adaptation of SPIRITED AWAY, performed in Japanese with English surtitles by a company of 50, at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre.

Heathers The Musical will present its fourth and final extension at New World Stages, prior to embarking on an extensive North American tour, launching in Baltimore in May 2027.

Much has been written about the proliferation of pop singer-songwriters writing new musicals for Broadway and off-Broadway. Less covered is the trend of pop singers performing on Broadway, which has made for a number of memorable appearances in current and recent seasons. 

Peabo Bryson, the Grammy-winning R&B vocalist known for Disney hits 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'A Whole New World,' has died at the age of 75. His career spanned more than five decades across R&B, pop, and musical theater.

These performers may have received other awards and accolades, but a Tony Award is shockingly not on their résumé.

Ava DeMary and Tony Award nominee Jeanette Bayardelle will join the cast of Heathers The Musical next month. DeMary will play the role of Heather McNamara, and Bayardelle will play Ms. Fleming/Veronica’s Mom.

Heathers the Musical will launch its first-ever North American tour in May 2027 at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, MD, traveling the country to play more than 35 cities in multiple touring seasons.
