TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will stream an advance look at tomorrow's hits in New Works Festival Online.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

NJPAC presents virtual viewing of the 1981 Sam Raimi classic, Evil Dead on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 9:00 p.m. There will be live commentary throughout by Bruce Campbell himself.  Watch the film with Campbell as he shares memories, stories, and anecdotes from the film, and for a few lucky viewers, Bruce will even answer questions from the chat.

Based on the unpublished play Some Christmas Letters by Tony-winning playwright Terrance McNally, Three Decembers follows the story of a famous actress, Madeline Mitchell, and her two adult children, Beatrice and Charlie over three decades (1986, 1996, and 2006). With a witty and touching libretto by Gene Scheer and a soaring musical score by Jake Heggie, Three Decembers is a 90-minute fullhearted American opera about family – the ones we are born into and those we create. Door Shakespeare has announced their second virtual production: The Comedy of Errors, by William Shakespeare. The Comedy of Errors streams to homes from Tuesday, October 27 through Monday, November 16.

Syracuse Stage has announced that Herman Frazier, senior deputy director of athletics, Syracuse University, has assumed the role of board president; Nancy Green, managing member, Edward S. Green & Associates, LLC, has taken the position of board chair; and Amir Rahnamay-Azar, senior vice president for business, finance and administrative services and chief financial officer, Syracuse Univesity, is the new board treasurer. In addition to Frazier, Green and Rahnamay-Azar, the board welcomes two new trustees. Frazier replaces outgoing board president Bethaida “Bea” González, who will remain on the board as a trustee.
