Oh what a night May 20 will be! Olivia Valli, the granddaughter of Four Seasons frontman and leading character in Jersey Boys Frankie Valli, is set to join the company of Jersey Boys on May 20. Valli, in what is considered a first in stage history, will portray Frankie Valli's first wife and her own grandmother, Mary Mandel.

Technically any venue with 500 seats or more, located along Broadway in New York City's Theatre District is a Broadway theatre, and the art that is produced in these special places is widely considered the highest form of theatrical entertainment in the world. Today, forty-one theatres are technically Broadway houses, each with their own rich history. Punk-pop duo the Dollyrots recently locked themselves away at Minnesota's famed Pachyderm Studios with longtime producer John Fields, (known for his work with All Time Low, Switchfoot, Soul Asylum) to wrap up recording their 7th studio album Daydream Explosion. The twosome who have been known to take the DIY approach has decided to join forces with friends and supporters at Wicked Cool Records/ The Orchard for the new album release. Daydream Explosion will be out on July 12. Preorder Daydream Explosion on May 17 and receive instant downloads of the songs “In Your Face” and “Everything.”

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center is happy to announce the full line-up of its annual PEN World Voices International Play Festival. As part of the 2019 PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, the International Play Festival presents play readings with some of the most significant theatre artists from Germany. All six playwrights are part of the Gorki Theater in Berlin-a safe haven for immigrant, refugee and international theatre artists in Europe. Legendary Artistic Director of the Gorki, Shermin Langhoff will join in conversation about their work. The Festival aims to enrich awareness of global dialogues, by bridging American audiences and international theatre-makers. All readings will be followed by discussion.

The McCallum Theatre announced today its new lineup for the 2019-2020 season, continuing to present the finest world-class artists and entertainers for Coachella Valley audiences.  The new season includes McCallum debuts, returning favorites, iconic superstars, family-friendly entertainment and holiday cheer, among so much more. A CHRISTMAS STORY, WAITRESS and THE PLAY THAT GOES WORING are among the many Broadway offerings in what looks to be the most stellar season in McCallum history.

John Neumeier's provocative adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid returns to San Francisco Ballet April 19-28 at SF War Memorial Opera House. American-born Neumeier, who has been the director and chief choreographer of Hamburg Ballet since 1973, uses his own set, costume, and lighting designs for the ballet, which features an original score by Lera Auerbach. Renowned thereminist Carolina Eyck performs with the Grammy Award-winning SF Ballet Orchestra for the run of the production. Created for The Royal Danish Ballet in 2005 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Andersen's birth, The Little Mermaid received its U.S. premiere at San Francisco Ballet in 2010 and was last seen with the Company the following year.

Broadway stars Liz McCartney and Bob Stillman will headline Judson Theatre Company's  Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins by Stephen Temperley. Souvenir is the first production of  Judson Theatre Company's eighth season, opening Thursday, May 9, 2019 and running through Sunday, May 12 at the Hannah Center Theatre.

11th Hour Theatre Company's Spotlight Series continues with Elena Camp and Rajeer Alford. These local favorites will take the stage Monday, January 7 at 7 p.m. It is hosted (with performances) by 11th Hour co-founder and Associate Artistic Director Steve Pacek.
