This season's new Broadway production of William Shakespeare's King Lear, starring two-time Academy Award winner, two-time Emmy Award winner, and 2018 Tony Award winner Glenda Jackson and directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, opens tonight at the Cort Theatre. The production will play a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, July 7, 2019.

Two River Theater announces the spring schedule of guest artists for First Monday Masters, its popular series of master classes. All of the classes are taught by actors, directors, playwrights and designers affiliated with Two River Theater's 25th Anniversary Season.

Composer, arranger, and conductor, David Berger, is recognized internationally as a leading authority on the music of Duke Ellington and the Swing Era. Conductor and arranger for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra from its inception in 1988 through 1994, Berger has transcribed more than 750 full scores of classic recordings, including more than 500 works by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Several of these transcriptions in addition to a number of original arrangements are featured in last season's Broadway hit, After Midnight.

American violinist Jennifer Koh showcases chamber works and a violin concerto by the visionary and much-honored contemporary Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho on her new album Saariaho X Koh from Cedille Records.

Programming runs July 12-Aug.10 and includes a Thursday evening Family Movie Series, the Thursday evening WDCB Live Jazz Concert Series and a Friday evening Pop Music Series. One of the highlights of the Friday evening series promises to be the July 20 New Philharmonic pops concert, which will be broadcast on Facebook Live for the second year in a row.
