MerleFest, presented by Window World, is proud to announce the initial lineup for MerleFest 2020, which will be held April 23-26. The annual homecoming of musicians and music fans returns to the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. “For over 30 years, one of the major factors that has built and sustained MerleFest has been the quality of the artists and performances that our guests see over the 4-day festival,” says Ted Hagaman, Festival Director. “People truly feel that the festival is a great value and that is why music fans and families return year after year. One of the great songwriters, performers, and all-around creative figures of late-20th-century, Prince Rogers Nelson, known to the world simply as Prince, told his story in song and on film. But when he died unexpectedly in April of 2016 at 57, he had just started a tantalizing project -- writing his memoirs -- and it appeared to have been lost with him. It was not.

In 2020, Adelaide Writers' Week the second from Director Jo Dyer, contemplates one of the few things that incontrovertibly unites us all: Being Human. Running from Saturday 29 February to Thursday 5 March as part of the 60th anniversary Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Writers' Week will explore how humans engage with each other, with technology, and with the natural world. 

BLITZ VEGA (featuring Andy Rourke of The Smiths and KAV, formerly of Happy Mondays), have released a trippy, vibrant new music video for their song “Lost & Found,” directed by the group's art director, former graffiti artist Paul Mulvey. The video follows the song's release last month. In addition to the new video, Blitz Vega will also be releasing their brand new single 'LA Vampire' next week on Halloween.

Acclaimed American rock band Blackberry Smoke recently debuted a new live version of their song “Run Away From It All.”

Actor-singer-dancer-choreographer Adam Fleming became a part of Broadway history originating the roles of Sketch in Hairspray and Lucas in Bare. In 2005, he starred in David Brind and Adam Salky's acclaimed short film, Dare, about two teenage boys' tense, spark-filled encounter in a pool following high school play practice. Dare gained a cult following as part of Strand Releasing's 'Boys Life' series and ultimately achieved worldwide popularity via more than 12 Million views on Youtube. The fan fervor (and fan fiction!) eventually inspired a sequel, ten years later. The original and the sequel are now being presented together as The Dare Project and attracting new legions of fans.

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) today announced the second year of The Eric H. Weinberger Award for Emerging Librettists, a juried cash and production grant to be given annually to support the early work and career of a deserving musical theatre librettist. The Award commemorates the life and work of playwright/librettist Eric H. Weinberger (1950-2017), who was a Drama Desk Award nominee for Best Book of a Musical (Wanda's World, and the playwright/librettist of Class Mothers '68, that earned Pricilla Lopez a Drama Desk Award nomination.

Acclaimed American rock band Blackberry Smoke will release their new project Homecoming: Live In Atlanta—a new live album and concert film—on November 15. Recorded at their annual “Brothers and Sisters Holiday Homecoming” show at Atlanta's Tabernacle last November, both the album and film, which was directed by Lagan Sebert and Ted Roach, are now available for pre-order. Long-running Athens quintet Je Suis France are excited to announce their seventh full-length albumBack To The Basics Of Love, out November 8, 2019 via Ernest Jenning Record Co. The video for album's first single, 'House Style,' was premiered by Paste Magazine, who said 'The track is led by scuzzy, melodic guitar lines and punctured by caustic percussion, making just enough room for vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Ryan Martin to cryptically and cynically conclude, 'There is never a good time / There is never a good time.'' This morning, The Black Keys debut a live version of “Go,” the second single off their ninth studio album “Let's Rock,” (Easy Eye Sound/Nonesuch Records), via Rolling Stone. For the performance they are joined by their touring band, Andrew Gabbard and Delicate Steve on guitar, and Zachary Gabbard on bass. The video, taped at a recent rehearsal in front of a small audience made up of members of the band's fan club, provides a behind-the-scenes look and a preview of their upcoming “Let's Rock” tour, which kicks off on September 23 at Denver's Pepsi Center.
