National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the lineup of new musicals for their 34th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which returns in person and takes place on Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21, 2022, at New World Stages. See the full lineup of musicals here!

Popejoy Hall will present two musicals still running on Broadway as well as a couple of well-known stars as part of its 2022-2023 season. The season includes 21 shows overall with a total of 50 performances from October 6, 2022 through June 11, 2023.

Season of Concern, the emergency fund for Chicago theater artists, will present a one-night-only benefit performance of Jerry’s Girls, with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, concepts by Larry Alford, Wayne Cilento, and Jerry Herman, direction by Ken-Matt Martin, and musical direction by Nigel D. Robinson.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced the world premiere production of The Bedwetter has been extended to Sunday, July 10 - along with a couple of cast changes.

Mabou Mines will present a 50th Anniversary Celebration of Work, reaching back into the company’s brimming five-decade history of innovative theater as a launchpad into the next 50 years (June 23–25; beginning 5pm June 23; 5pm–11 pm June 24; and 12pm–11pm June 25).

MIND OVER MURDER chronicles the bizarre and psychologically complex story of six individuals who were convicted for the 1985 murder of a beloved 68- year-old grandmother, Helen Wilson, in Beatrice, Nebraska. Despite five of the individuals originally confessing to the crime, they were exonerated by DNA evidence in 2009.

Ronald K. Brown / EVIDENCE will return to Jacob’s Pillow in Week 2 of the Dance Festival this year from June 29-July 3. The company will perform several works, including the world premiere of The Equality of Night and Day, with noted jazz composer Jason Moran playing live for each performance.

The Huntington announces the world premiere of Common Ground Revisited, a new play co-conceived by Obie Award-winning director Melia Bensussen and Obie Award-winning playwright and Huntington Playwriting Fellow Kirsten Greenidge (Our Daughters, Like Pillars; Luck of the Irish; and Milk Like Sugar at The Huntington).

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for Follies by James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim. The musical will run on the San Francisco Playhouse Mainstage from June 30 through September 10, 2022. Bill English will direct, with music direction by Dave Dobrusky and choreography by Nicole Helfer. This marks the first fully staged professional production of Follies in San Francisco.

The Alliance for Downtown New York in association with En Garde Arts announced today casting for Downtown Stories: Dreams from New York´s Oldest Streets, premiering Wednesday June 8 and running through Saturday June 25, 2022.

The film, directed by Blitz Bazawule, will star Fantasia Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Colman Domingo, Halle Bailey, Ciara, and more.

Japan Society presents Part of the Okinawa in Focus series and the Globus Film Series, Visions of Okinawa: Cinematic Reflections. The screenings of these films are set for May 13th through June 3rd. In-theater screenings are set for May 13th through May 21st. Virtual screenings will run from May 14th through June 3rd. TheaterWorks Hartford will present the East Coast premiere of Zoey’s Perfect Wedding by Tony-winner Matthew López, the first Latiné playwright to win the Tony Award for best play. Directed by Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero, the production marks López’s return to TheaterWorks Hartford following 2018's The Legend of Georgia McBride.
