Here are my initial thoughts on the new original work by Hunter Bell, Jeff Bowen and Ann McNamee.

Broadway's Mean Girls is at Wharton Center in East Lansing until this Sunday, March 6th. Based on the 2004 movie, Mean Girls premiered on Broadway back in 2018 and it went on to be nominated for 12 Tony Awards.

Mean Girls is making its way to East Lansing in 2022 for the first time ever. From March 1st to the 6th, you can catch this Tina Fey-penned musical at Wharton Center.

“A Golden Girls Murder Mystery: The Curse of Jessica Fletcher” will make its Philadelphia stage debut starting March 5th at Craft Hall, at 901 N. Delaware Avenue. Rose, Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia are back at it again, and this time the four friends from Miami are trying their hand at solving a mystery.

Circa has announced CircAbility, an exciting and much anticipated new program bringing participants from the disability community together to learn circus skills and techniques in a series of month-long workshops and participant performances taking place in Brisbane, Cairns, Ipswich and the Gold Coast.

The first casting news has been announced for the transfer of Danny Robins' edge-of-your-seat, supernatural thriller 2:22 - A Ghost Story for a new season at the Gielgud Theatre. 

Vonnegut proposed that every story ever told followed a graphable shape. The stories are graphed on two axes: the vertical “good fortune-ill fortune” axis and the horizontal “beginning-end” axis. Perhaps stories aren’t as unique as we think they are—and perhaps that isn’t a bad thing.

Oh, how I missed raunchy theatre. It's been years since I paid my old pals at Avenue Q a visit. And the jokes still feel as fresh as...well, the salad I had right before I watched puppet sex at a dinner theater.

Today’s subject Matthew Gardiner is a prime example of someone living their theatre life to the fullest. While he has directed and choreographed all over town and in Korea as well, by far the bulk of his career has been working at Signature Theatre. Since coming there in 2004, Matthew has either choreographed and or directed some of Signature’s most memorable productions while also serving as the company’s Associate Artistic Director since 2011.

The prolific playwright and regular denizen of the Los Angeles theatre community Justin Tanner will world premiere his latest piece MINNESOTA for Rogue Machine online June 26, 2021, with a virtual reception to follow. Justin was most quick to respond to my questions on MINNESOTA and the L.A. theatre community.  

It was just announced by the Pulitzer Prize organization that Katori Hall's The Hot Wing King has officially won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included Circle Jerk by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley and Stew by Zora Howard.

In addition to the widely available standard 3-LP edition, a limited pressing on translucent vinyl with black and gold marble will be available exclusively via the official Madeleine Peyroux or Craft Recordings webstores (1,000 available worldwide).

This week, Theatre Calgary's Stafford Arima and Maya Choldin explained how their company is paving the way for emerging artists in the new digital age of theatre. Theatre Calgary (which is known for its cross-country collaboration and interpretations of old and new plays and musicals) jumped into the digital scene fairly quickly following the ending of in-person performances.
