Premiere Stages at Kean University has announced its 2022 season, featuring three new plays from regional dramatists. The season will kick off in July with the New Jersey Premiere of Dominique Morisseau’s Mud Row.

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present a historic evening with two legendary Broadway stars Anita Gillette and Lee Roy Reams for the first time on Monday, June 13 at 7:00 PM.

Billed as ‘The Guys Who Wrote ‘Em & The Guys Who Sang ‘Em’ – Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart was a mid-1970’s group that consisted of Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones from The Monkees, as well as songwriting duo Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, who wrote many of The Monkees’ hits.

Following their recent leadership transition in which Producing Artistic Director Zak Berkman succeeded former Executive Artistic Director Abigail Adams, People’s Light has announce an exciting expansion of their artistic team with four new appointments. Broadway-favorite Steve H. Broadnax III (Thoughts of a Colored Man) transitions from Resident Director to People’s Light Associate Artistic Director.

Ahead of the May 13 release of their new Nonesuch album, Dropout Boogie, The Black Keys have announced two high-profile events to celebrate the project. On May 11, the duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney will perform at Los Angeles’ famed Troubadour and offer an international livestream of the intimate show in this 500-capacity venue exclusively via Flymachine. Greenway Arts Alliance, in association with Two Sisters Media, presents the world premiere of Who Are You, written and performed by Shareen Mitchell, beginning May 13, 2022, with Kate Jopson directing this one-woman show. Today, ahead of the Friday, May 6th release of new album Peacock Pools via ATO Records, Pink Mountaintops pays homage to musical idol Nikki Sudden on the harmony-heavy and sweetly hedonistic new single “ Nikki Go Sudden ,” serenading the late Swell Maps and Jacobites  singer/guitarist with a gorgeous convergence of twisted nursery rhyme and elegantly debauched mythmaking (e.g., “Hush baby-baby, now don’t you cry/Mama’s gonna buy you some collision time”). “I wrote that song just after Nikki Sudden died, a tribute to a fallen-rogue unsung hero who existed in his own weird outsider world,” shares Pink Mountaintops' Stephen McBean .

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present Nashville vocalist Wendy Moten – best known for her 2021 run on NBC’s “The Voice” – in a special concert on Monday, May 16 at 7:00 PM. Her show will include songwriter Richard Whiting hits including “He’s Funny That Way,” “My Ideal,” “Miss Brown,” and “Too Marvelous For Words.”

The Black Keys have released “It Ain’t Over,” the second track from their upcoming album, Dropout Boogie, on Nonesuch Records. A visualizer for the song can be seen now. “It Ain’t Over” was written by band members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney in tandem with Reigning Sound’s Greg Cartwright. Producers Brian Anthony Moreland, Sonia Friedman and Tom Kirdahy announced additional cast for the revival of August Wilson’s seminal, Pulitzer Prize-winning drama The Piano Lesson, the first Broadway revival in more than 30 years since the play’s Main Stem premiere in 1990.

The 2022 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to U.K. playwright Benedict Lombe for her debut play Lava. In a special presentation at Shakespeare's Globe in London, the Blackburn Prize judges presented Lombe with a cash prize of $25,000, and a signed limited-edition print by renowned artist Willem de Kooning, created especially for the Prize.

Gravitte has been in theater long enough to have made some very special friends, and she welcomes Stephen Schwartz (April 11), Marc Shaiman (May 9), and Harvey Fierstein (September 12).
