Flat Rock Playhouse will continue the 2018 season with a Flat Rock Favorites all-star performance featuring the musical styles made famous by The Grand Ole Opry. Combining the talents of performers from Million Dollar Quartet, Music on the Rock: Johnny Cash & Roy Orbison, and Music on the Rock: Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson, Pickin' and A Grinnin': A Night at the Opry guarantees a high energy, merry riot of musical expression. A show from the steppes of Kazakhstan is coming to the largest theater festival of solo performances United Solo in New York City. The show made by ethnic Koreans who's first language is Russian will be presented at the Theatre Row on October 27th at 4PM. This monodrama is written and performed by Anatoliy Ogay and directed by Tatyana Kim, artists from Kazakhstan whose works have been performed from Eurasia to North America. The premiere of OTOSOTR took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan with three successful sold-out shows in May 2018. Later in August the solo show was presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the Underbelly's most successful year at the fringe. OTOSOTR won an Asian Arts Award in the category "Innovative Theatre" at the festival and was highly reviewed by the main media outlets of the UK.

The Chicago Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Jeff Lindberg, kicks off the company's 40th anniversary season with A CJO Salute to Nancy Wilson, Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Studebaker Theater, 410 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago's Fine Arts Building. Single tickets are $35 (balcony) and $45 (floor). Landmark Radio Theater will present Stage Door, an adaptation of the classic 1937 film, on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. at the Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington, N.Y.  The show will be presented as a radio play with music and sound effects, performed before a live audience.

Prolific actor Reno Roop passed away Friday morning August 31 at his home in New York. He was 80. The cause of death was Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia.

Gloria McLean, President of the American Dance Guild, announced today the lineup for ADG Festival 2018, Visions Then and Now. Honors to choreographic luminaries Jane Comfort and the late Eleo Pomare will complement four days of performances by 34 multi-generational artists from across the United States. Producer David Binder just announced today that Golden Globe Award Winner and Emmy Award Nominee Keri Russell will join three-time Emmy Award nominee Adam Driver in the first revival of Pulitzer Prize Winner Lanford Wilson's BURN THIS. Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, BURN THIS will begin performances in March 2019 at a Broadway theater to be announced.

Manoa Valley Theatre is celebrating its momentous 50th Anniversary with a play season filled with star-studded audience favorites, Broadway blockbusters and compelling dramas that herald the next half-century for the noted Off-Broadway playhouse. During its anniversary season, MVT will present a spectrum of multi- disciplinary experiences including musical comedies, historical dramas and audience participation events. New collaborations and partnerships are just two of the many features of the season. In what will be a world premiere, MVT has commissioned an original script, Shipment Day, about well-known leprosy activist Olivia Robello Breitha and Hawaii's leprosy history. It will also produce the Hawaii premiere of Allegiance, a Broadway musical about the Japanese American internment during WWII and one family's extraordinarily divisive experience.
