Seattle Opera launches a new chapter in its commitment to training young artists and preparing singers for opera careers with its new Seattle Opera Academy. Presented in collaboration with Seattle Youth Symphony's Marrowstone Music Festival, this three-week intensive training program for singers ages 16-22 will be hosted at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash.

Hailed as "one of the great amateur choruses of our time (New York Today) for its "full-bodied sound and suppleness (The New York Times)," The Dessoff Choirs turns the church into a petit Paris with an all-French program that puts the spotlight on the brilliant French Impressionists of music: Marcel Dupre, Claude Debussy, Lili Boulanger, Reynaldo Hahn, Jean Langlais, and Francis Poulenc. Joined by accompanist Steven Ryan (celebrating his 20th anniversary season with Dessoff) and Dr. Raymond Nagem, Associate Organist at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, Dessoff presents a magnifique tribute to French composers and to the majeste of the organ.

Mark Umbers' diverse work includes Home Fires and Mistresses on screen and, on stage, The Glass Menagerie at the Apollo Theatre and the acclaimed revival of Merrily We Roll Along at Menier Chocolate Factory. He's returned to the Menier for She Loves Me, whose plot - two feuding employees in a Budapest shop are also, unbeknownst to them, one another's romantic pen pals - also formed the basis for the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan film You've Got Mail. Umbers stars opposite Scarlett Strallen, and the show begins previews on 25 November.

11 Schools to Benefit from $30,000 Arts Grant

Fifth grade theatrical students in the Hazelwood school district, arts education students with severe developmental disabilities at Boonslick State School, and nearly 400 musical students from Keeven Elementary School, are just a few of those who will benefit from the $30,000 in grants awarded to 11 arts education projects funded by the Maritz Arts and Education Fund for Teachers, it was announced today by the Arts and Education Council.

The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces that Scarlett Strallen (Amalia Balash) will be joined by Alastair Brookshaw (Ladislav Sipos), Les Dennis (Mr Maraczek), Callum Howells (Arpad Laszlo), Katherine Kingsley(Ilona Ritter), Dominic Tighe (Steven Kodaly) and Mark Umbers (Georg Nowack), with Rachel Bingham, Peter Dukes, Luke Fetherston, Olivia Fines, Aimee Hodnett, Sarah-Marie Maxwell and Vincent Pirillo for the company's major revival of She Loves Me this Christmas. The production reunites Strallen with director Matthew White, following their previous collaboration at the Menier on Candide. The production opens on 7 December, with previews from 25 November, and runs until 5 March 2017. Full casting will be announced shortly.

American Composers Orchestra Announces 40th Season - Tickets Now Available

Tickets are now on sale for American Composers Orchestra's (ACO) 40th Anniversary Season, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel and Music Director George Manahan. This season includes eight world premieres by a diverse set of composers performed by ACO at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space, and continues the orchestra's commitment to serve as a catalyst for the creation of new orchestral music, providing unprecedented opportunities for American composers to create new work and for audiences to discover it. Founded in 1977, ACO remains the only orchestra in the world dedicated exclusively to the creation, performance, preservation, and promulgation of music by American composers. To date, ACO has performed music by 800 American composers, including 350 world premieres and newly commissioned works. ACO takes its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings for emerging composers, now in its 26th year in New York, and through its program EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country in partnership with American Composers Forum, the League of American Orchestras, and New Music USA.

In 2015, Stephen Petronio Company culminated its 30th anniversary 2014-15 season with a transformation: the launch of Bloodlines. This five-year autobiographical project not only honors the lineage of American postmodern dance, but also traces the influences and impulses that have shaped choreographer Stephen Petronio, an artist uniquely positioned to preserve this postmodern tradition. Premiere dates for the third season of Bloodlines, along with additional touring, will be announced soon.

July 20, 2016 (BOSTON, MA)—Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announced the 2016–17 season roster for Boston Ballet II (BBII), the second company, which will be comprised of 14 dancers. Both new and returning BBII dancers will perform together for the first time in First Look, a new program featuring a range of works curated to reflect the main Company's diverse repertoire. Select Boston Ballet School Summer Dance Program (SDP) students will also perform alongside BBII company members in this one-day-only performance. First Look takes place on Saturday, July 30 at 3 pm in Boston Ballet's grand rehearsal studio at its South End headquarters, which transforms into an intimate, state-of-the-art black box theater.
