The 55-year-old Harlem School of the Arts(HSA) at the Herb Alpert Center, today announced the start of a major construction project that will significantly transform the 37,000 square foot facility, located at 645 St. Nicholas Avenue. Work on what is being called, The Renaissance Project, will take a full year to complete and is scheduled to begin in August.

The Westchester Symphonic Winds will continue its 31st Season with "Liberty and Equality," an uplifting concert at the Tarrytown Music Hall (13 Main Street, Tarrytown, NY) on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. The program will include six moving and uplifting pieces for the wind ensemble, including a new arrangement of highlights from the Tony Award-winning Broadway smash hit musical, Les Miserables by band member, Barton Green. Seven soloists were selected through a vocal competition this past fall, who will be featured prominently in the medley. The winning soloists include: Jennifer Dapice, soprano; Emily Geller, mezzo; Jessica Bogart, mezzo; John Gomez, tenor; Brian Shaheen, tenor; Tommy Leo, tenor; and Bjorn Olsen, baritone. Dr. Joseph Higgins will guest conduct, leading the ensemble in a performance of Unquiet Hours by David Biedenbender. Westchester Symphonic Winds conductor, Maestro Curt Ebersole will lead the group in other works, including Lauds, by Ron Nelson; Suite Francais, by Darius Milhaud; Liturgical Dances, by David Holsinger; and The Hope Within, by Benjamin Dean Taylor. After hosting the World Premiere in 2007, Village Theatre is ecstatic to mount an all-new production of Million Dollar Quartet complete with a rock star team of professionals from around the country. The blockbuster hit story of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins is set to run in Issaquah May 9 - June 23, 2019 before moving to Everett June 28 - July 28, 2019.

10 Hairy Legs, the male repertory dance company, holds its 7th consecutive New York Season with a return to New York Live Arts June 27-29. Presented are World Premieres by Larry Keigwin and Adam Barruch. Barruch's work will have a newly composed score by Roarke Menzies. Larry Keigwin is a native New Yorker and choreographer who has danced his way from the Metropolitan Opera to Broadway and back. He founded KEIGWIN + COMPANY in 2003 and as artistic director, he has led the company as it has performed at The Kennedy Center, The Joyce Theater, The Guggenheim, and New York City Center, among many other venues. Adam Barruch currently creates and performs work under the epithet of his own company, Anatomiae Occultii. In addition, he has also created works for companies such as The Limón Company, Ailey II, Keigwin + Company, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, River North Dance Chicago, BalletX, Whim W'Him Seattle Contemporary Dance, Graham II, GroundWorks Dance Theater, Gina Gibney Dance Company and Minnesota Dance Theatre, as well as for dance icons Margie Gillis and Miki Orihara.

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, Archduke explores how one man, one moment, can derail an entire century. Focusing on the cataclysmic 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, three hapless insurgents embark on a darkly comic quest for immortality and purpose, unaware that their actions will launch World War I.

Porchlight Music Theatre's final production in its 2018 - 2019 'lost' musicals in staged concert series is Porchlight Revisits Minnie's Boys,  with book by Groucho Marx's son Arthur Marx and Robert Fisher, music by Larry Grossman and lyrics by Hal Hackady with direction and choreography by Christopher Pazdernik and musical direction by Christie Chiles Twille.  Porchlight Revisits Minnie's Boys is presented for three performances Wednesday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 23 at 2 p.m. and  7:30 p.m. at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street.

The theme for this year's San Francisco International Arts Festival (SFIAF) is The Path to Democracy. Artists from the Bay Area and 12 countries will gather at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture to present work that speaks to issues of democracy and the incremental steps of getting there…including in the United States.

The Humours of Bandon centers around an ambitious teenage Irish dancer and the grueling preparations she's undertaken, in her young life, to achieve. (Writer/performer McAuliffe is herself a former championship Irish dancer, and devoted 18 years to the form).

The fourth annual FilmTwo Initiative launches today in LA to support the career sustainability of thirteen artists developing their second features. FilmTwo encompasses two days of focused programming, including a writing workshop (led by Joan Tewkesbury), industry mentoring sessions, and one-on-one story meetings, kicking off a year of tailored creative and tactical support as part of the Institute's continuum of support for artists at key inflection points in their careers.
