The acclaimed Jewish Plays Project will bring an incredible story of intergenerational and cultural conflict to life in a workshop reading of 'How to Conquer America-A Mostly True History of Yogurt' on Monday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

BBC AMERICA will air Snatches: Moments From Women's Lives, a short film series featuring an all-female line-up of actors and writers, in the current events time slot on Sunday, November 4 at 9:00 am ET.  Snatches: Moments From Women's Lives airs in partnership with Jezebel and features an introduction by Jezebel Editor-in-Chief Julianne Escobedo Shepherd.

Trinity Rep is proud to present its annual holiday tradition, A Christmas Carol. Noted for being a new production each year, the 2018 production has been inspired by a traditional telling of the famed Dickens classic.  This year the production will be directed Mark Valdez, who directed Fuente Ovejuna, or Like Sheep to Water at Trinity Rep in 2017.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art will be free to all guests today, Sept. 22, as part of Smithsonian magazine's 14th annual Museum Day.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a one-week extension for the world premiere production of Sharr White's The True, with Austin Cauldwell, Edie Falco, Glenn Fitzgerald, Michael McKean, John Pankow, Peter Scolari and Tracy Shayne, directed by Scott Elliott. Originally set to play a limited Off-Broadway engagement through October 21, this production now plays through Sunday, October 28. Previews began September 4 in advance of an Official Opening Night on September 20 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).

The Center for Jewish History welcomes a new cohort of outstanding fellows to spend the 2018-2019 academic year engaged in their cutting-edge research. They will be working with the Center's Partners' archives on their original projects. Varying in their disciplinary and chronological scope, the fellows' scholarship weaves a fascinating and complex picture of the field of Jewish studies today.

Together, the Warmack brothers embark on a forward-looking journey, fueled by nostalgia, to restore and recreate an American staple while forging a reputation in the competitive automotive industry in Discovery's all-new series TRANS AM, premiering Tuesday, October 2 at 10pm ET/PT.

There's nothing more endearing than a little girl and her dog, especially when it comes to a red-headed orphan who reminds kids of all ages that positivity is the only road to resilience!  Slidell Little Theatre is opening its' 55th season with the timeless classic, Annie, based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray. Adapted for the Broadway stage in 1977, Annie was the winner of seven Tony Awards, and continues to be a worldwide phenomenon today. The sun has definitely come out on this entire cast, especially two remarkable actresses, Elizabeth Burris and Piper Hall, who share the title role of Broadway's favorite belting ragamuffin.  Despite their marked star quality, there is another salient stray who is commanding equal respect-Annie's beloved dog Sandy!  The four legged character, portrayed by rescued K-9 Jen-Ai, once declared unredeemable, is stealing hearts on and off the stage. The golden's trainer, Margaret Cromwell say the script is not much different than their own life story, and is excited about the affect her beloved may have on audiences.  Regardless of number of legs the actors have, the talent in this production is awe inspiring, and the relationship between the two may require a few tissues. Their genuine affection definitely pulls you into the theme of what it means to value someone or something, all the while highlighting the meaning of family love, however that is defined for each of us.

Quite possibly the most popular family-friendly stage musical of all time, ANNIE---the classic 1977 Tony Award winner for Best Musical based on Harold Gray's 'Little Orphan Annie' comic strip---seems like a no-brainer choice to appear as the annual all-star summer musical at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl. So it's actually not a surprise that this plucky, unabashedly charming production---now causing giddy bursts of laughter and collective choruses of 'awwww's' at Hollywood's iconic 18,000-seat outdoor arena for two more performances this weekend---is such a perfect fit. And judging by its marvelous opening night performance this past Friday, July 27, the production itself is sure to win over anyone in attendance of its remaining shows.

The Shubert Foundation has awarded a record total of $30 million to 533 not-for-profit performing arts organizations across the United States. This marks the 36th consecutive year that the Foundation has increased its giving.

Interrobang Theatre Project is pleased to announce its ninth season, featuring three knockout dramas presented at its new resident home, Rivendell Theatre, 5779 N. Ridge Ave. in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood. This season, Interrobang explores "identity/crisis," with three plays featuring characters on the edge of something new, battling old demons and making room for fresh starts.

The Steinway & Sons grand piano that has long been used by artists during Spoleto Festival USA has gained a second life: The South Carolina Governor's School Foundation purchased the instrument for use by students and visiting artists of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, South Carolina. The piano was delivered to the school earlier this week. Students will have access to it at the start of the 2018-2019 school year, and the piano will find its permanent home in the Music Department's forthcoming 10,000-square-foot building that is currently under construction on campus and set to open in 2019.

Peninsula Players Theatre, America's oldest professional resident summer theater and Door County's theatrical icon, is proud to announce it has received a $15,000 award from The Shubert Foundation. The Shubert Foundation awarded a record total of $26.8 million to 533 not-for-profit performing arts organizations across the United States. The Shubert Foundation provides grants only to organizations that have established artistic and administrative track records, as well as a pattern of fiscal responsibility.

The Globe is happy to announce that the Globe for All Tour will continue to bring shows to the community in 2018, with support provided by Theatre Forward's Advancing Strong Theatre grant program. Following the Globe engagement of Karen Zacarias's hilarious comedy directed by Edward Torres, Native Gardens will travel June 28 through July 1 to four of our community partner venues for free performances in South Bay, Lemon Grove, Otay Mesa, and Oceanside. Developed in the 2017 Powers New Voices Festival, it runs through June 24 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, and then hits the road!
