The John W. Engeman Theater Announces Its 2019 - 2020 Season

The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport (Kevin J. O'Neill, Managing Director and Richard T. Dolce, Producing Artistic Director) announces its 2019-2020 Main Stage Season, sponsored by Northwell Health.

The season starts with SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, based on the 1977 blockbuster film, whisking you back to the 1970s, where open shirts, bell-bottoms, and disco were all the rage. Featuring music by The Bee Gees, this musical adaptation of the classic film is the story of a talented, streetwise kid from Brooklyn who attempts to escape his dead-end life through dancing. Packed with disco classics including "Stayin' Alive," "You Should Be Dancing," "How Deep Is Your Love," and many more, this show sizzles with explosive energy and sensational dancing. July 11 - August 25, 2019.

Next up, we have Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterwork, SUNSET BOULEVARD. In her mansion, faded silent-screen goddess Norma Desmond lives in a fantasy world. Impoverished screenwriter Joe Gillis, stumbles into her reclusive world and is seduced by her and her luxurious lifestyle. Joe becomes trapped until his love for another woman leads him to try and break free, with dramatic consequences. With its much-loved score ("Sunset Boulevard," "With One Look," "As If We Never Said Goodbye," "The Greatest Star of All" and "The Perfect Year") this production promises to be a spectacular event.

September 12 - October 27, 2019.

For the holiday season, children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by MATILDA. Adapted from the incomparable children's novel by Roald Dahl, this hit Broadway musical brings to life the inspiring story of an extraordinary and courageous young girl. Packed with high energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. November 14 - December 29, 2019.

To start off 2020, we pay a visit to the Golden Age of Rock and Roll with MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. On December 4, 1956, an extraordinary twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever. Featuring a treasure trove of hits from these music legends, including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Walk The Line," "Hound Dog," "Who Do You Love?," "Great Balls of Fire," and many more, this Tony-nominated musical not only plays the music that made the Golden Age of Rock and Roll; it tells the stories of the men who created it. January 16 - March 1, 2020.

Next Spring, we bring you the hilarious musical comedy SISTER ACT. When the witness protection program sends aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier to a struggling convent after she sees her boyfriend commit a murder, Deloris takes her act to the nun's choir where she finds an unexpected sisterhood. Based on the hit 1992 film and featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), Sister Act is a sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship and will have you jumping to your feet! March 12 - April 26, 2020.

We end our season with Cole Porter's 1930s classic ANYTHING GOES. This hilarious shipboard romp features mesmerizing dance numbers and such unforgettable songs as "It's De-Lovely," "Friendship," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "All Through the Night," "You're the Top," "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" and many more. With music, dance, laughs and the age-old tale of Boy Meets Girl, Anything Goes is Delightful, Delicious and De-Lovely. May 7 - June 21, 2020.

Season tickets go on sale Tuesday, February 5th at 10am. Single tickets will go on sale Monday, April 1st at 10am.

As a special offer, new 2019 - 2020 season ticket packages will include a complimentary ticket to either A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER (March 14 - April 28, 2019) or AIDA (May 9 - June 23, 2019).
