Robert Mark Kamen & Drew Gasparini Are Developing THE KARATE KID for Broadway

Kinoshita Group, Kumiko Yoshii, and Michael Wolk announced today simultaneously in New York and Los Angeles that The Karate Kid is being developed for Broadway as a new musical. Based on the smash hit Columbia Pictures motion picture, and featuring a book by the film's screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen and music and lyrics by Drew Gasparini, The Karate Kid will be directed by renowned Japanese director Amon Miyamoto and choreographed by MTV VMA nominees Keone and Mari Madrid.

YouTube today announced that all of its forthcoming original series and specials will soon be available for fans around the world to watch for free with ads- just like they enjoy everything else on the platform. In addition, YouTube unveiled a new and returning slate of original series and specials focused on music, learning and personalities that will all be free with ads, including seasons 1 and 2 of “Cobra Kai” beginning this fall. The announcements were made on stage today at YouTube's annual Brandcast event by Chief Business Officer Robert Kyncl.

YouTube announced that it has ordered a second season of the wildly-popular and critically-acclaimed hit series COBRA KAI from Sony Pictures Television and Overbrook Entertainment. Since its debut on May 2, the first episode of COBRA KAI has generated over 20 million views. Series stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are set to return for a second season. The 10-episode, half-hour series will begin production this fall and debut on Youtube Red in 2019.
