ART Receives Donation, Future Performance and Research Home in Boston Hopeful

Harvard University announced today that it has received a gift from College alumnus David E. '93 and Stacey L. Goel, which will make it possible to reimagine the University's arts campus and envision a future home for the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.). The Goels' $100 million gift kicks off the University's effort to fund a state-of-the-art research and performance center in Allston that will enhance the arts community at Harvard as well as in Greater Boston.

The Metropolitan Opera today announced its 2019 20 season, which opens on September 23 with a new production of the Gershwins' classic American opera Porgy and Bess, last performed at the Met in 1990, starring Eric Owens and Angel Blue, directed by James Robinson and conducted by David Robertson.

Actor and comedian Justin Long will join the cast of the New York premiere of Mara Nelson-Greenberg's DO YOU FEEL ANGER?, directed by Margot Bordelon. Performances will begin at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) on Wednesday, March 13 with opening night set for Sunday, March 31.

Breakout series: ANTHEM: An Evening with Justice Ameer and Chrysanthemum Tran. The debut two-woman show by Rhode Island-based poets and performers plays February 8 and 8PM and February 9 at 7PM at OBERON, located at 2 Arrow Street in Cambridge.

Brandie Blaze and Optic Bloom will open. The show kicks off A.R.T.'s Spring 2019 Live @ OBERON line-up. Additional Live @ OBERON artists will be announced at a later date.

The American Repertory Theater looks very different in 2018 after ten years with Artistic Director Diane Paulus at the helm.
