It’s no secret that the field of radio has changed significantly. Just in my time on the radio, it went from there needing to be someone at the station 24/7 to satellite and automation. On-Air shifts became less and less, and unless you were a household name (and ultimately that didn’t really matter either), staying on-air seemed impossible, especially when ratings came out. Do I sound bitter? I’m not, but I have a lot of dear friends who have been sacrificed by this trade.

Phoenix Art Museum (PhxArt) and the University of Arizona Center for Creative Photography (CCP) have announced Emilia Mickevicius, PhD, as the newly appointed Norton Family Assistant Curator of Photography. Mickevicius will divide her time between the two institutions, working with CCP's world-renowned collections to curate exhibitions that will be presented in Phoenix Art Museum's Doris and John Norton Gallery for the Center for Creative Photography. She comes to PhxArt and CCP from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), where she has served as curatorial assistant in the photography department since 2019. Mickevicius begins her role on June 5, 2023.

Remote Theater, an award-winning theater collective born at the start of the pandemic, today announced the artistic team for a mixed-reality piece (using augmented and virtual reality) inspired by late Obie-award winning playwright Ntozake Shange's coming of age novel, Liliane. It is also the first day of the production's Kickstarter campaign where it seeks to raise funds to offset the costs required for this production.
