New Exhibition Featuring the Artistry of Disney Costumes to Open at MoPOP in October

The Museum of Pop Culture today announced the October opening of Heroes and Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume in partnership with the Walt Disney Archives. Through more than 70 original items including ball gowns, sorcerers' capes, military uniforms, tiaras, and of course glass slippers, the exhibition immerses visitors into the world of Disney and shows how our understanding of its iconic characters is shaped through the artistry and creativity of its costumes. Rose Tattoo are extraordinarily proud to announce the release of “Outlaws”, the album, on March 6. A re-recording of the famed first and iconic “Rock N Roll Outlaw”, spawning classics like “Nice Boys” (Don't Play Rock 'n' Roll), “Rock N' Roll Outlaw”, “One Of The Boys” and, “Bad Boy For Love” these songs have etched their way into the music landscape over the last 40+ years. The magik with a 'k' is that they've included three bonus tracks from the very early days, songs that were demoed and never made the final cut, being a 'love song' “Rosetta” written back in 1975 by Anderson and Rilens, “Snow Queen” and “Sweet Love Rock and Roll” penned by Ian Rilens.

Casting Set for Dominique Morisseau's PIPELINE at Studio Theatre

Casting is set for Studio Theatre's production of Pipeline, playwright Dominique Morisseau's searing drama about the school-to-prison pipeline and a mother desperately trying to keep her son from becoming ensnared in it. The production runs January 15-February 16, 2020 and is directed by Awoye Timpo. Starring are DC theatre favorite Justin Weaks (Studio's Curve of Departure) as high school student Omari and Andrea Harris Smith making her Studio debut as his mother, public school teacher Nya. In its recent People Issue, Washington City Paper's called Weaks a 'standout,' going on to say: 'D.C. theater audiences love Justin Weaks. ...Weaks came to D.C. for a job about four years ago, not expecting to stay. But he kept getting cast in shows, and lucky for local theatergoers, he's still here.'

Galactic Announces 25th Anniversary Tour

Galactic are pleased to announce their 25th anniversary tour, a celebration they're excited to share with fans across the country as they look back on their storied history together as a band. Over the past quarter century, the renowned New Orleans group have released 10 studio albums, played countless gigs and festivals throughout the world, and within the last year, partnered together to purchase and preserve the legacy of the legendary Tipitina's club. This coming February and March they will play shows across the US, with alternating guests including Anders Osbourne, Chali 2na, Jackie Green, Dirty Revival, Naughty Professor, and Southern Avenue. Joining Galactic on stage as the featured singer for this tour will be New Orleans native Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, a singer who's musical gifts have seen her talent tapped by artists such as Michelle Williams, Faith Evans, and Norah Jones. Lacy J. Dalton Celebrates 40 Years In Country Music

Country hit-maker Lacy J. Dalton is celebrating her 40th anniversary in country music, and of her hit single 'Crazy Blue Eyes' released in the fall of 1979. Lacy J. Dalton gained prominence in the late 1970's as one of the fastest rising stars. With the launch of her first single “Crazy Blue Eyes,” Dalton saw her career rise as the song broke the U.S. Hot Country Charts in 1979, and eventually became a Top 20 hit while on rotation at radio stations throughout the country. After the release of “Crazy Blue Eyes,” Lacy J. continued her streak in country music with 'Takin' It Easy' and 'Everybody Makes Mistakes,' before releasing her signature song, “16th Avenue,” all four reaching the Top 20 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) will present the East Coast Premiere of Cambodian Rock Band by Lauren Yee, directed by Marti Lyons and featuring the songs of Dengue Fever, Sinn Sisamouth, Voy Ho, and Rose Serey Sothea, from October 16 to November 10 at the Nancy L. Donahue Theatre, according to Executive Director Bonnie J. Butkas and Interim Artistic Director Terry Berliner. Cambodian Rock Band is a co-production with Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago and City Theatre in Pittsburgh.
