Mad Cat kicks off their 18th season with their popular concert series Mad Cat Live performing Black Sabbath's Vol. 4. Mad Cat Live is a series dedicated to presenting transitional albums by major artists and deconstructing them in order to place them into a current context. Sabbath's Vol.4 is a perfect fit for the series, as it marked a tipping point for the band; pushing their creative limits as well as driving them into a state of drug abuse, paranoia, and violence. Just in time for Halloween, this limited engagement will be a must-see live event for fans of Sabbath; a heavy metal band who began their dramatic 50 year history in Birmingham, England as a jazz-blues quartet called Earth, only to find themselves evolving into one of the most influential bands in the history of hard rock. Breathing life into today's generation of punks and rockers, Black Sabbath provided a response to the punctured love bubble of the 60s, an angry war cry to all things soft, light, and filled with pretense. The audacity of their rebellion in the face of a changing nation, is all the more relevant today.

On Saturday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m.,Orchestra of St. Luke's returns to Carnegie Hall as three fantastic family-friendly stories are brought to life through music. Prokofiev's classic Peter and the Wolf is performed alongside two new compositions: Caroline Shaw's adaptation of The Mountain That Loved a Bird byAlice McLerran, commissioned by Carnegie Hall, and Robert Xavier Rodriguez's take on a favorite children's book, The Dot and the Line by Norton Juster, author of The Phantom Tollbooth, with the author in attendance for the performance. Edwin Outwater conducts, and renowned actor John Lithgow narrates this special Family Concert in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.

Now, his eerily resonant 1973 play Magnificence - featuring idealistic squatters, police brutality, slippery politicians and radicalisation - is being revived at Finborough Theatre, previewing from 25 October.

When the Zimmerli's curators first devised two complementary exhibitions of American art titled Circa 1966 - one focusing on prints, the other on paintings and sculpture - the intention was to commemorate the museum's golden anniversary by spotlighting key works created around the time of its founding. But in addition to spotlighting revolutionary movements that now have an established presence in art history, the subjects of many of the works focus on social and political discussions from the era that have prominently re-emerged across the United States.

Almost thirty years after DRIVING MISS DAISY had its premiere Off-Broadway, this play still feels remarkably relevant today. The intimate setting at Act II Playhouse works well for this play as the audience immediately connects with the story. DRIVING MISS DAISY focuses on an older Southern woman, Daisy, and her chauffer, Hoke Colburn. At its heart, this play is about companionship and how friendship can transcend any barrier of race or creed. In addition, this show's cast is perfectly suited to their roles as they draw the audience into the story while heartwarmingly depicting the growing friendship between Daisy and Hoke. DRIVING MISS DAISY at Act II Playhouse, under the direction of James J. Christy, is a brilliant production complete with masterful performances.
