The Award-winning Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC), will be presenting Merrily We Roll Along, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, based on the original play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The musical will be choreographed by Misha Shields, musical directed by Ming Aldrich-Gan and directed by APAC's Artistic Director Dev Bondarin. Born in Berkeley, California in the 1960s, Joshua Redman is the son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedroff. He is one of the most recognizable jazz saxophonists, as famous for his masterful straight-ahead post-bop improvisations as he is for his explorations of groove-based idioms. Redman won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition for saxophone in 1991, and has played alongside of many jazz icons including Jack DeJohnette, Charlie Haden, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny, and Clark Terry.
