Award-winning songwriter Hyeyoung Kim (SUNFISH, CAFE-IN) will present a one-night only concert of original material Thursday, August 21st, 2014, 8pm at the Indian Road Cafe, 600 W. 218th Street, New York, NY. There is no cover or food/drink minimum.

Featuring performances by Alyse Alan Louis, Gabe Violett, Jeremy Gaston, Angelo Luis Rios, with Matt Davis and Hiroyuki Matsuura, Make It Better will showcase brand new stand-alone songs and selections from upcoming musicals by the composer, with additional lyrics by Shoshana Greenberg, Dina Gregory, and Michael Cooper. The evening is curated and hosted by Alex De Suze.

HYEYOUNG KIM is a multi-award-winning composer, librettist, and singer-songwriter. MAC Nominee, 2005 recipient of the Jonathan Larson, Daryl Roth, and TRU Daniel Marshall Multicultural awards. A member of BMI workshop and ASCAP, she was selected for the Nautilus Composer/Librettist lab at New Dramatists, ASCAP Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project and York Theatre's NEO 5 concert series. Originally from Seoul, Korea, Hyeyoung received her MFA from NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program; BA in Music Composition from Ewha Womans University. Projects include the musicals: Sunfish (co-book/music)-Daegu International Musical theater Festival, Korea, 2013(awarded Official Judge's Selection), Stoneham Theater, Boston, MA 2011(BWW Boston Best musical in a mid-size theater), Disney/ASCAP Workshop with Stephen Schwartz, 2010, 2006 NAMT's Festival of New Musicals, TRU reading series, finalist in the Alliance Theatre's Kendeda Playwriting Competition; Falling (music)-winner of CreativeFactory and DIMF (Daegu International Musical Festival), Korea and selected for Songwriters Showcase NAMT 2010; Café-in (music)-Live theater, Seoul, Korea, 2008, Global theater (2010) and Amuse theater (2013), Tokyo, Japan, and revived every year since 2008; Museum Pieces, The Dome and Rites of Passage, with Prospect Theatre Company, NYC; Luna Park (music/additional book)-commissioned by and premiered at SUNY Cortland; In The Shadow Of My Wings: Songs by Hyeyoung Kim -wrote/co-produced/performed in a concert of her original songs at the Duplex Theater. Upcoming:Music Box (music)-winner of CJ Festival, Korea; Sunny (music)-commissioned by CJ E&M; Weather Underground (co-book/music)-Selected for the 4@15, NYC. Her songs have been featured in at Lincoln Center, the Duplex Theater, the Triad Theater and Joe's Pub and in Seattle, San Francisco, Massachusetts and internationally in London and Tokyo.
