NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero to Perform Five Concerts in Four Cities

From January 10-14, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero will perform five concerts in four cities in Florida -- Ft. Myers, Gainesville, Daytona Beach and West Palm Beach -- as part of the Polish orchestra's twelve-city US tour this month. The tour also includes stops in Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville and throughout California.

Giancarlo Guerrero Brings The NFM Wrocław Philharmonic Across The US In 2020

This winter, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic embarks on a twelve-city US tour with conductor Giancarlo Guerrero, Music Director of the Polish orchestra since 2017. This tour is the first time the orchestra has toured the United States since 2012. Throughout the tour, the orchestra will perform works of Polish composers from across generations, including Frederic Chopin, Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski, an original patron of the National Forum of Music (NFM) in Wrocław. Johannes Brahms, a composer with close ties to Wrocław will also be represented on tour along with other Central European composers Antonin Dvořák and Béla Bartók.

The Actors' Gang and Tim Robbins announced the upcoming North American Tour of THE NEW COLOSSUS for the 2019-2020 season. Directed and co-written by Academy Award-winning Tim Robbins (Mystic River, Dead Man Walking, The Shawshank Redemption), THE NEW COLOSSUS will play a limited tour and visit cities such as Charlotte, NC (Jan. 28-Feb. 2, 2020 - Knight Theater), Detroit, MI (Feb. 14-16, 2020 - Music Hall), Seattle, WA (Feb. 20-22, 2020 - Moore Theatre), Nashville, TN (April 9-11, 2020 - James K. A group of students has forcibly taken over a theatre space on their college campus. The room hasn't been touched in a year a?' not since a school shooting rocked the very foundation they're playing to, in the middle of a performance of Thornton Wilder's Our Town. The survivors have come together to hold a last hurrah: part vigil, part documentary, part call-to-action. See, the building is scheduled for demolition tomorrow a?' and, while they can, the students want to remind their community of what happened and what is at stake if they don't act.

Thierry Fischer And Utah Symphony's All-Prokofiev Album To Be Released By Reference Recordings, October 25

On the first of three Utah Symphony recordings to be released this season, Music Director Thierry Fischer and the orchestra perform Prokofiev's only two-concert works to be based on his music for film—the symphonic suite from Lieutenant Kijé and the Alexander Nevsky cantata. Lieutenant Kijé is a 1934 Soviet satire of Czarist Russia that is best remembered for Prokofiev's score, while Alexander Nevsky, a 1938 historical drama directed by Sergei Eisenstein, is now considered a classic of Russian cinema.
