2018 was an amazing year for theatre in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and if the proposed seasons for area theatres are any indication, 2019 is going to be a great one, too. From classic plays to super contemporary ones, and of course, a decent amount of musicals, this year has a lot for theatregoers to look forward to. Here are some productions I'm particularly excited about in the coming months.

Peninsula Players Announces 2019 Season! Door County's Theatrical Treasure Celebrates 84th Season

Peninsula Players Theatre, America's oldest professional resident summer theater and Door County's theatrical icon, is thrilled to announce its 84th season performing June 18 through October 20, 2019. Nestled along Door County, Wisconsin's scenic shore, the award-winning acting company of Peninsula Players has been enthralling generations of audiences in its 600-plus seat, all-weather pavilion since 1935, presenting hundreds of pre-Broadway tryouts, world premieres, classic dramas, comedies and musicals.

Chloe Grace Moretz and Jack O'Connell to Star in Bonnie and Clyde Film

Chloë Grace Moretz and Jack O'Connell are set to star in 'Love is a Gun,' according to Variety. The film, directed by Spanish helmer Kiké Maillo, is the Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow story.

New Perspectives Theatre Company And The School for Drama At the New School Presents The Works of Teresa Deevy

On Her Shoulders is pleased to present staged readings of three plays by Irish dramatist Teresa Deevy, directed by Kristin Heckler on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Doors open at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start with The Play in Context by Melody Brooks, who situates the scripts in their historical time and place, followed by the readings and a post-performance Q&A with refreshments. Juno Films Acquires Exclusive North American Distribution Rights to The BFI's 2K Restoration of Shiraz: A Romance of India

Juno Films has licensed the exclusive North American rights to the British Film Institute (BFI)'s 2K restoration of director Franz Osten's epic black and white drama, Shiraz: A Romance of India. Based on the romance between 17th-century Mughal ruler Shah Jahan and his queen, this epic silent film is the ravishing, romantic tale behind the creation of one of the world's most iconic structures: the Taj Mahal.

The NYC Premiere and Benefit of 'Marsha Hunt's Sweet Adversity' will be Saturday, October 27th, at 1:45 pm (NEW TIME) at Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Avenue, NYC NY 10003. In honor of Marsha Hunt's 101st birthday on October 17th, this NYC documentary premiere is a benefit for Red Nose Day, a program of Comic Relief USA, dedicated to ending child poverty. Corncobs To Cosmonauts: Redefining The Holidays During The Soviet Era At Museum Of Russian Icons

The Museum of Russian Icons will be presenting Corncobs to Cosmonauts: Redefining the Holidays during the Soviet Era, an exhibition transforming the Museum's West Gallery into a Russian Winter Wonderland from November 9, 2018-January 27, 2019. The centerpiece of the exhibition will be more than 150 Soviet-era ornaments displayed alongside various-sized and decorated "New Year's Trees," together with holiday toys, books, and cards.

Monchhichi, the 2017 original CGI-animated series co-produced by Paris-based Technicolor Animation Productions and TF1 in collaboration with Sekiguchi based on the iconic lovable plush, will have its U.S. premiere on the Boomerang premium subscription streaming service. Actors Co-op Theatre Company (Ovation Award-Winner 2017 Best Play, Intimate Theatre for 33 Variations) presents the first show in its 27th Season with the thriller ROPE, written by Patrick Hamilton, directed by Ken Sawyer, produced by Kevin Shewey.  ROPE will preview on Thursday, September 20 at 8pm and will open Friday, September 21 at 8pm and run through Sunday, October 29 at the Actors Co-op Crossley Theatre, 1760 N. Public Sales For UMS's 2018-19 Season Begin 8/13

Tickets to individual performances on the University Musical Society's 140th season will go on sale to the public on Monday, August 13, 2018. With appearances by internationally renowned orchestras, chamber musicians, dance groups, jazz and global music artists, and international theater ensembles, the UMS season spans the complete spectrum of the performing arts. Events will take place in Ann Arbor venues, including Hill Auditorium, the Power Center, the Michigan Theater, and Rackham Auditorium. In addition, UMS will present five high-definition theater broadcasts from the National Theatre of London and the Bolshoi Theater of Moscow, all in partnership with the Michigan Theater.
