The Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists (CAATA), dedicated to advancing the field of Asian American theater, announces Chicago as the host city for the Sixth National Asian American Theater Conference and Festival (ConFest), to be held August 13 - 18. Dinosaurs will once again roam international soil when the globally-acclaimed production, WALKING WITH DINOSAURS - THE ARENA SPECTACULAR, based on the award-winning BBC Television Series, returns in 2018, starring Michaela Strachan as 'Huxley' the paleontologist.

To enter or exit The Avignon Theatre Festival's stunning Cloître des Carmes one must cross in full view of bleacher seating on the space's Marley floor, which extends uninterrupted from the upstage gothic corridor. Despite such a conspicuous route, or perhaps because of it, many attending Raimund Hoghe's 36, Avenue Georges Mandel took a speedy or defiant mid-performance exit. The performance I attended this past Tuesday ended in a sturdy division between aggressive boos and a smattering of impassioned standing ovations. I am not sure if either extreme reaction was truly merited. I am even more uncertain as to why this piece, first performed in the Festival in 2007, was picked for a rare Avignon Theatre Festival revival.

With just 30 days until kickoff of the 2018-19 Premier League season, NBC Sports Group today released its television schedule for the first two months of the season. The schedule features live coverage of all matches beginning Friday, August 10, at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN with Premier League Live followed by Manchester United v. Leicester City at 3 p.m. ET.

Casting of Goodspeed Musicals' Cyrano is complete. Film and TV actor Blake Jenner will play Christian. He joins previously announced Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Peter Dinklage, who will play Cyrano alongside film actress Haley Bennett as Roxanne in this bold new musical.

Back in 2000, David Lewis, a sculptor in Cape Cod, designed a statue of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his son John Jr. both as men walking on the beach.

But the silverware's wrong, the radio's on the fritz, her sister Jasmine is drinking, her husband Dayton isn't helping, her daughter Keisha is a typical teenager, and her brother Tyrone might not show up at all!

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

One of the most important theatre festivals in the country, the TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL celebrates 30 years this summer. In honour of this major landmark for Canadian theatre, the Festival will feature a stellar line up of shows by many of Canada's hottest theatre artists, a throwback to some of the world's most important theatre productions with the #STARTEDATTHEFRINGE campaign, and a new creative pop-up patio called POSTSCRIPT in the Scadding Court hockey rink, where all events are free and open to the public. Soho Rep. (Sarah Benson, Artistic Director; Cynthia Flowers, Executive Director) today announced that actor Charles Browning will take over for Lance Coadie Williams in the world premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview, which Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson directs, and which the downtown Manhattan theater presents in association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Williams is unable to continue.The production now runs at Soho Rep. June 2 - July 8, with opening now set for Sunday, June 17. 

Carnegie Hall today announced that a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), led by its Music Director Gianandrea Noseda, has been added to its 2018-2019 season line-up. The concert, scheduled for Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, will be the National Symphony's first Carnegie Hall performance since Mr. Noseda began his tenure as the orchestra's music director in fall 2017.
