The non-profit Playing For Change Foundation's annual PFC Day on September 15 promises to be its biggest celebration of global talent to date. Venues in the U.K.'s Cannock, plus Regina, Canada, and Santa Fe, Argentina, as well as Brazil's Rio De Janeiro, are a few of the newest locales that already include Brazil's São Paulo and Curitiba, Ibiza, Spain, Diamante, Argentina, Los Angeles, California and Mexico City, Mexico. The roster recently was updated with more U.S. participants including New Orleans' famed Nola Brewery with confirmed performers including Grammy Award-winning blues legend Vasti Jackson, Tin Men featuring Washboard Chaz and Tom McDermott, and Six Springs Tavern in Richardson Texas where local bands will be featured from 1 PM to 1 AM. In addition to these marquis events, there will be smaller, grass roots events taking place supporting the Foundation's efforts.

Bringing together some of today's most remarkable ballet talents, Daniel Ulbricht's Stars of American Ballet returns to Jacob's Pillow, appearing in the Ted Shawn Theatre August 22-26. To enter or exit The Avignon Theatre Festival's stunning Cloître des Carmes one must cross in full view of bleacher seating on the space's Marley floor, which extends uninterrupted from the upstage gothic corridor. Despite such a conspicuous route, or perhaps because of it, many attending Raimund Hoghe's 36, Avenue Georges Mandel took a speedy or defiant mid-performance exit. The performance I attended this past Tuesday ended in a sturdy division between aggressive boos and a smattering of impassioned standing ovations. I am not sure if either extreme reaction was truly merited. I am even more uncertain as to why this piece, first performed in the Festival in 2007, was picked for a rare Avignon Theatre Festival revival.

With just 30 days until kickoff of the 2018-19 Premier League season, NBC Sports Group today released its television schedule for the first two months of the season. The schedule features live coverage of all matches beginning Friday, August 10, at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN with Premier League Live followed by Manchester United v. Leicester City at 3 p.m. ET.

Medford, Mass.-native Jack Coggins has been cast to play David Lewis, the sculptor who designed the statue of John Fitzgerald Kennedy that stands in front of the JFK Hyannis Museum, in A Walk on the Beach.

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.
