N.C. Highway Historical Marker to Honor Kay Kyser

A king of the swing era of big band music, Kay Kyser, will be recognized with a N.C. Highway Historical Marker, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. in his hometown. Kyser was born in Rocky Mount and went on to become perhaps the best-known bandleader in America. The marker dedication will be at First United Methodist Church Annex, 273 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, N.C. Nancy O'Dell Named Grand Marshal of the Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade

The 87th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade, the largest Christmas celebration in America, announces that Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell has been named the Grand Marshal for this year's landmark anniversary event.  Presented and produced by Associated Television International, the live parade which happens in association with The City of Los Angeles, is taped for network television, and will take place on Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.  The parade's telecast will be hosted by Erik Estrada, Laura McKenzie, Dean Cain and Montel Williams, with special co-hosts Elizabeth Stanton and Garrett Clayton.  The event will include live musical performances (to be announced) that will take place on two stages; featuring The Marine Toys For Tots. The Globe is delighted to announce the complete cast and creative team for Looking for Christmas, the new Clint Black Christmas musical, inspired by the country music legend's 1995 chart-topping holiday album. With music and lyrics by Clint Black, book by James D. Sing Along With BAT OUT OF HELL At The Dominion

The producers of Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical have announced five special performances when the audience will be able to sing along with the cast to the classic hits. These performances will take place on Tuesday 28 August, Tuesday 25 September, Wednesday 31 October, Tuesday 27 November and Monday 31 December. On Halloween (31 October) and New Year's Eve (31 December), the audiences will also have the option to come dressed as their favourite character from the show or from one of Meat Loaf's iconic videos. The best dressed audience member on each night will go home that evening with a Bat Out Hell - The Musical poster signed by Meat Loaf himself. (more...)

The Core Theatre's Artistic Director James Hansen Prince today announced the company plans an off-Broadway run of the original play, Inferno! Fire at the Cocoanut Grove: 1942, at Theatre 80 in New York City, November 21 - December 16, 2018. The play, written by James Hansen Prince, received its world premiere at The Core Theatre in Richardson, Texas, in November 2015, and had a subsequent premiere at the Boston Center for the Arts in February 2016.
