Playwrights Horizons presents THE TREASURER, the world premiere of a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). The Granada Theatre is now accepting applications for its Volunteer Ambassador Program. Created in 2008 after the renovation of The Granada Theatre was complete, the program boasts over 125 volunteers who work as ambassadors for the theater with the community, and serve an important role in delivering the best possible guest experience for every performance. The Ambassador Program will hold an orientation on Tuesday, September 19 at 6:30pm at the Granada Theatre (1214 State St.). Interested applicants are encouraged to fill out applications (available on the Granada Theatre's website here), and are required to attend the orientation and theatre tour training in order to become a Granada Volunteer Ambassador.

Abingdon Theatre Company has announced additional casting for their upcoming 25th Anniversary Gala on Monday, October 23 at The Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47th Street). Honoring two-time Tony and Emmy Award winner Bebe Neuwirth (Chicago, Sweet Charity, 'Cheers,' 'Frasier'), the event will feature a special concert performance of the John Kander and Fred Ebb musical revue And The World Goes 'Round.

Tickets are now on sale for WAM Theatre's fall Mainstage production of The Last Wife by Kate Hennig, directed by Kelly Galvin. Pulitzer Prize-winning Playwright Sam Shepard passed away on Thursday, July 27 of complications from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Shepard spent a decade as playwright-in-residence at San Francisco's Magic Theatre, where he premiered his masterworks Buried Child (Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 1979), True West (1980), and Fool for Love (1983, starring Ed Harris and Kathy Baker). Shepard returned to Magic in 2000 to direct the world premiere of his new work The Late Henry Moss, starring Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, and Cheech Marin.

Unexpectedly, she is contacted across time by the famous polar explorer, Ernest Shackleton. Inspired by her music, he shares his epic Antarctic journey with her in video and song. Against all odds, they discover that their greatest inspiration lies within each other.
