What did our critic think of SIX THE MUSICAL at Blumenthal Performing Arts?

Make no mistake about it: SIX, the Tony Award-winning musical about six women historically tethered to one another by a common – but not “a commoner” – ex-husband, is raucously funny one moment, remarkably heartfelt the next, with plenty of history punctuating the moments in between. SIX, the high-spirited and energetic take on the lives of Henry VIII’s half-dozen wives, is also totally unlike any musical theater offering that has come before it.

In 2017, a show opened in London. Over the next few years, its popularity would grow, leading to a small US tour before getting ready to open on Broadway. The show was already building hype, but days before it opened, Covid 19 caused its opening to be delayed, producing even more buzz for the show. It now has two tours going simultaneously across the US. That show is 'SIX: The Musical,' which opened Tuesday at Des Moines Civic Center as part of the Des Moines Performing Arts Willis Broadway Series. As I considered how to review this show, I decided to give you 'SIX' reasons to see 'Six: The Musical.'

 SIX made its Michigan premiere last week in Grand Rapids and set an all-time record for attendance at a one-week Broadway show at DeVos Performance Hall January 10-15, 2023.

The national tour of SIX by Tony Award®-winners Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss is playing at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis for sixteen performances from January 24 to February 5!

The Providence Performing Arts Center has announced that tickets for the Tony Award®-Winning electrifying new musical phenomenon SIX  by Tony Award®-winners Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss will go on sale on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 10A.

The National Tour of SIX is a part of the 22-23 PNC BROADWAY IN KANSAS CITY series and will take the Music Hall stage February 28–March 5, 2023.

Tickets to SIX at Memorial Hermann Broadway at the Hobby Center by will go on sale Friday, September 23 at 10AM. SIX by Tony Award-winners Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss will play the Hobby Center for 16 performances November 8-20, 2022.
