David Alan Grier has been cast as Cogsworth in ABC's upcoming animated and live-action blended special, “Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration.” Grier will join the previously announced H.E.R. in the role of Belle, Joshua Henry as Gaston, Josh Groban as the Beast, and Rita Moreno as the Narrator.

The Santa Fe Opera will present the world premiere of This Little Light of Mine, a new opera about the life of voting rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer. The one-act opera is composed by Chandler Carter with libretto by Diana Solomon-Glover. Under development since 2017, the piece is commissioned by the Santa Fe Opera and its Opera for All Voices (OFAV) consortium partners.

The five-disc collection features all nine episodes and over five hours of behind-the-scenes special features, providing a deeper look into the world of HALO. Plus, the Blu-ray, 4K UHD and limited-edition 4K UHD Steelbook include collectible art cards of Kwan Ha, Dr. Halsey, Soren, Master Chief, Vannak, Riz and Kai.

The Board of Directors of the African American Arts Alliance, and the Black Excellence Awards Committee have announced the nominations for the 22nd Annual Black Excellence Awards. The Awards were established in 2002 to honor the outstanding works of art by African Americans in Theater, Dance, Music, Film, Literature, Visual Arts and Digital Media.

HartBeat Ensemble announced today their upcoming production of My Children! My Africa!, a gripping drama about the collision of education, idealism and politics by preeminent South African dramatist Athol Fugard. The play will run September 29 through October 9 at HartBeat Ensemble's Carriage House Theater (360 Farmington Avenue) in Hartford, CT. 

Esperanza Arts Center (EAC) has announced its 2022-2023 season. This year EAC will present its annual VOCES Series spotlighting the artists and traditions of the Latin Caribbean, with a rich array of family and community events throughout the year.

Paul Rudd has joined the cast of the upcoming third season of Only Murders in the Building. Rudd wil portray Broadway star Ben Glenroy in the new season after making a cameo appearance in the season two finale. It has not yet been revealed if Rudd will be a series regular or guest star.

OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, has welcomed a new class of six board members that includes creators, administrators, artist managers, and opera company trustees. They join the Board of Directors under the ongoing leadership of Chair Carol F. Henry, esteemed philanthropist and founding trustee of Los Angeles Opera.

Booth will leave her role at the Alliance to join Chicago’s Goodman Theatre as Artistic Director.  Booth will finish her tenure by co-directing the regional premiere of the acclaimed play, Everybody, which begins previews September 2.

William Shakespeare's joyous and popular comedy Much Ado About Nothing will open at Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, the professional theatre on the campus of DeSales University. The show previews July 13 and 14, opens July 15, and runs through August 7 in the Schubert Theatre at the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts.
