Firebrand Theatre presents the Chicago premiere of QUEEN OF THE MIST, based on the sensational true story of Anna (Annie) Edson Taylor, the first woman to go over Niagara Falls.

Emerging Artists Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Paul Adams, celebrates their 25th season by presenting their bi annual New Work Series. The series runs February 27 - March 17 at TADA Theater in the Flatiron District and features new works from a diverse group of artists. New musical, plays, solo-shows and dance pieces (in varies stages of development), will be presented.

Transport Group has announced that its annual A Toast to the Artist gala will honor Tony Award-winning orchestrator Michael Starboin and composer Carmel Dean with the Transporting American Theatre Award. The evening takes place Monday, March 11 at 6:30pm at The Current, Pier 59 @ Chelsea Piers, and includes a cocktail party, seated dinner, performances, dessert reception, and silent and live auctions. The Transporting American Theatre Award recognizes significant contributions to the American Theatre. The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the world premiere of SOCRATES, written by acclaimed actor, director, and writer Tim Blake Nelson. Directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes and anchoring the Onassis Festival 2019: Democracy is Coming, SOCRATES will begin previews on Tuesday, April 2, with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Wednesday, April 3 in The Public's Martinson Hall. This powerful new play runs through Sunday, May 19, with an official press opening on Tuesday, April 16.

The all-female cast has been confirmed for the world premiere production of The Worst Witch which opens at Royal & Derngate this Christmas as part of the theatre's Made in Northampton season. An original story for the stage by Emma Reeves (Royal Television Society Award for Best Children's TV Programme and 2017 British Screenwriters Award for Best Children's Programme) based upon Jill Murphy's beloved series of classic novels The Worst Witch, the production will be directed by Theresa Heskins (2017 UK Theatre Award for Best Show for Children and Young People) and designed by Simon Daw, with music by Luke Potter.
