Tim Robbins has joined the list of celebrities contributing performances for Theater or the New City's 2021 'Love 'N Courage' gala March 22, which benefits the theater's emerging playwrights program.  Robbins joins Charles Busch, David Amram, F. The Rose Art Museum has announced the gift of 50 works on paper from Baltimore-based collector Stephen Salny. This gift includes pieces by some of today's leading artists and significantly includes a number of works by Ellsworth Kelly, as well as pieces by Anni Albers, Josef Albers, Sonia Delaunay, Helen Frankenthaler, Damien Hirst, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Motherwell, Richard Serra, and Frank Stella. Many of the works enrich already existing clusters of work by the same artists while others are new to the Rose's permanent collection.

The world première of Alexander Matthews' My One True Friend is today announced with full cast. Antony Law directs Theo Bamber (Gordon), Mensah Bediako (Kapenie), Suzanna Hamilton (Lady L), Lucy Lowe (Oonagh), and Joseph Rowe (George). The production opens on 27 August at Tristan Bates Theatre, with previews from 21 August, and runs until 14 September.

The first prize of the 34th Annual Irving M. Klein International String Competition, carrying a purse of $13,000, has been awarded to CELLIST JAMES BAIK, 17. The Competition Finals were held Sunday, June 2nd at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and featured four competitors advancing from an original group of nine Semifinal programs the previous day,. Baik's winning program for the final round included movements from Beethoven's Cello Sonata No. 5, op. 102, no. 2; from the Cello Concerto in A minor, op. 129 by Schumann; and from the Bach Cello Suite No. 5 in C minor; as well as the commissioned work Between Worlds by Carlos Simon.

The stage adaptation of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, written by Bradley Rand Smith and directed by Tim Robbins, began previews on October 6th and opened October 13th.
