The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra Participates in Fitness Concert With 5k Run And Bootcamp Workout

The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra brings its symphonic fitness / participation program to Devou Park for Covington's Healthy Outdoor Weekend on August 5. It is a double feature - 5k run and boot camp workout - for those so inclined, and simply a concert for the curious observer and those who choose to recline. Everyone, including kids, will know these popular classics (See playlist attached). KSO Music Director and founder James Cassidy stated, 'The KSO started offering participatory and relevant programming with its first aerobics class in 1993, and its first Beethoven 5k in 1997.' Moonlight Stage Productions closes its 2017 season with the groundbreaking musical In the Heights, September 13 - 30. With music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, this Tony Award-winning musical broke new ground as it introduced a new generation of Broadway storytellers. Manuel would later go on to bring his megahit show Hamilton to the stage. In the Heights is full of exhilarating dance with a backdrop of salsa, Latin pop sounds, and frequently rapped lyrics described by the New York Times as "an ear-tickling novelty on Broadway." San Francisco Opera celebrates the opening of its 95th Season with Opera in the Park, presented by the San Francisco Chronicle, at Sharon Meadow in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on Sunday, September 10 at 1:30 p.m. This free concert features acclaimed artists from the Company's 2017 Fall Season performing arias and other operatic favorites with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra conducted by Music Director Nicola Luisotti. In the event's time-honored finale, the audience joins with the singers for a rousing rendition of the brindisi (drinking song) from Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata.
