NYU Skirball will present Skirball Talks: Broadway To Main Street, a free theater panel hosted by Laurence Maslon, with Ted Chapin, Thomas Z. Shepard and Kurt Deutsch, on Monday, November 19 at 6:30 pm. The Talk is presented in conjunction with the publication of Maslon's newest book, Broadway to Main Street: How Show Tunes Enchanted America (Oxford University Press). Held weekly every Monday at 6:30pm during the academic terms, Skirball Talks hosts visionaries from the worlds of politics, the arts, sciences, academia, and more. RSVP is necessary.

The Cleveland Orchestra Embarks on Tour to Asia in Spring 2019

In March and April 2019, The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Most embark on their nineteenth tour together, with eleven performances scheduled across Asia in seven cities: Taipei, Macao, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, and Beijing. The tour's repertoire features four big musical works, two from the 19th century and two from the 20th, with Beethoven's "Emperor" Piano Concerto (No. 5) with soloist Daniil Trifonov and Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, alongside Richard Strauss's epic tone poem Ein Heldenleben and Prokofiev's enigmatic Symphony No. 3. Details of concert pairings, venues, and dates in China and Taiwan are listed in the Program Information section at the end of this release.

The Society for the Preservation of Music Hall (SPMH) will 'Wake the Dead' on October 31 from 9:00 PM to midnight at one of the country's most historic and haunted places - Cincinnati Music Hall. SPMH's inaugural Halloween Bash will delight adult audiences with spine-tingling tunes - played in Music Hall's Grand Ballroom on The Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ by master organist, Trent Sims. Cincinnati's legendary bartender, Molly Wellmann, will be mixing up spooktacular drinks for guests and ghouls alike.
