Review: WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? with The Fire Weeds
by Tara Bennett - Jan 13, 2025

Edward Albee’s WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? is a raw, relentless, and deeply unsettling theatrical titan. Since its debut in 1962, it has held its place as one of the most harrowing portraits of marital discontent and social decay in American theatre. The play dares its audience to sit through nearly three hours of verbal warfare and emotional manipulation as it unflinchingly examines middle-class disillusionment. And audiences keep coming back for more.

Review: HERE IN AMERICA, Orange Tree Theatre
by Louise Penn - Sep 24, 2024

David Edgar's new stage play about Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller places us mainly in Connecticut, 1952, but struggles to tease out the personal and political complexities within a creative friendship. There is a strong play within Here In America, but it would benefit from being stripped back to the essentials - less Marilyn Monroe, more Marxism. See what our critic had to say.

Review: Not in Kansas Anymore: Tornado Tastes Like Aluminum Sting at CATF
by Jack L. B. Gohn - Jul 18, 2024

In presenting the story of a neuro-diverse protagonist mostly through the protagonist's eyes, and shredding narrative consistency and sequence, the playwright Harmon dot aut has rendered a confusing story. But with captivating characters and subject matter, this is still a play worth seeing.

Review: THE MARYLIN CONSPIRACY, Park Theatre
by Cindy Marcolina - Jun 29, 2024

The production is frankly unnecessary, too long, and way too slow for what it really is. The characters (publicist Pat Newcomb, actor Peter Lawford and his wife Patricia Kennedy, Marilyn’s psychiatrist and his spouse, her physician, and her housekeeper) go around in circles like Masterson’s revolving stage, beating around the bush until, finally, we find out what the core of the issue is, nearly halfway through the second act. They’re all trying to protect the Kennedys: a scandal would bring down the government at a crucial point in history.
