City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s home for contemporary plays, has announced the details of the theatre’s 47th season of new works, taking place in-person beginning in September 2021. Reopening to audiences after 18 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, City Theatre will fully produce six plays, live and in-person.

Fifteen emerging storytellers from Chile, India, Kenya, Tunisia and the U.S. will convene digitally for Sundance Institute’s January Screenwriters Lab, taking place online via Sundance Co//ab from January 11 -15, 2021. Dervish, one of the world's most imaginative interpreters of Irish folk music and recently recognized with a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, have confirmed a new tour of North America this spring. Having devoted the last three decades to gently reinventing the traditional songs of their homeland, Dervish were widely celebrated in 2019 for their album The Great Irish Songbook which featured such luminaries as Vince Gill, Rhiannon Giddens, Steve Earle and others. On this new tour the group will play songs from the album among various tunes performed throughout their career as well as fan favorites.

Producer Kevin McCollum announced today that the new musical, Mrs. Doubtfire, will premiere at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre this fall on route to Broadway.  The musical features a book Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, the Tony Award nominated team behind Something Rotten!  Four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (Hello, Dolly!) will direct and Lorin Latarro (Waitress) will choreograph.  Ethan Popp (Tina) will serve as Music Supervisor.
