Oscar-award nominated actress Angela Bassett will host The Music Center's 30th Annual Spotlight Grand Finale Performance at The Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall on June 5, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. This landmark event will showcase the 14 outstanding Southern California high school students, ages 15-18, who were recently named Grand Prize Finalists and will celebrate three decades of the vital scholarship and arts training program that has helped launch the careers of many of today's most renowned artists. The event culminates a year-long process where more than 1,400 Southern California students participated in the program.

The 17th annual Austin City Limits Music Festival will deliver one of the most exceptional lineups of this year's festival season with headliners Paul McCartney, Metallica, Childish Gambino, Arctic Monkeys, TRAVIS SCOTT and ODESZA. The history-making bill includes first time ACL Fest performances and only North American festival appearances by both Paul McCartney and Metallica, a triumphant return by GRAMMY, Golden Globe and Emmy-Award winning Childish Gambino, a highly anticipated performance from Arctic Monkeys, and debut sets from Texas native TRAVIS SCOTT and electronic superstars ODESZA. On the 10th anniversary of the Museum's last Herrero exhibit, the Napa Valley Museum Yountville will present "Lowell Herrero: Origins of an Original," a comprehensive exhibition depicting the life, work, and influences of the Napa Valley's iconic "Lavender Man" artist. The exhibit is organized by Herrero's widow and business partner Janet Herrero, and curated by noted St. Helena artist Jennifer Garden. The Opening Reception will be on Saturday June 2 at 5:00 pm, and is free for Museum members; $20 for Non-Members.

The Music Center named 14 outstanding Southern California high school students as Grand Prize Finalists in the 30th annual The Music Center's Spotlight program (Spotlight), a free nationally recognized scholarship and arts training program for teens. Two Grand Prize Finalists were named in each of seven categories, including acting, ballet, non-classical dance, classical voice, non-classical voice, classical instrumental and jazz instrumental. The ASCAP Pop Awards are always a good time, but this year's ceremony on April 23 was truly a night to remember. We gave out special honors to some of the brightest lights in music: iconic hitmaker Desmond Child (Founders Award), Portugal. The Man (Vanguard Award) and pop chanteuse Lana Del Rey (Global Impact Award), plus our four Songwriter of the Year honorees, Starrah, Drew Taggart, Steve Mac and Max Martin - and celebrated the writers and publishers of the most-performed songs of 2017. Universal Music Publishing Group was named Publisher of the Year, and BMG took home Independent Publisher of the Year honors for the third consecutive year.

ASCAP, the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers, hosted its 35th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards on Monday, April 23, recognizing four impressive songwriting talents with a 2018 ASCAP Pop Music Songwriter of the Year award, each for their individual achievement in crafting some of the most popular songs of 2017. Steve Mac won for 'Shape of You' (Ed Sheeran), 'Strip That Down' (Liam Payne ft. Quavo), 'Rockabye' (Clean Bandit ft. Sean Paul) and 'What About Us' (P!nk); Max Martin, receiving the award for an unprecedented 11th time, for 'Side To Side' (Ariana Grande), 'Can't Stop The Feeling!' (Justin Timberlake), 'Send My Love' (Adele) and 'Just Like Fire' (P!nk); Starrah for 'Now or Never' (Halsey), 'Fake Love' (Drake), 'What Lovers Do' (Maroon 5 ft.
