The recording of this Blue Room performance will be available for purchase on September 28, 2018, and pre-orders are available now. Valley Maker, the folk project of Seattle songwriter Austin Crane, will release his new album Rhododendron in two weeks, and today he shares the video for his new single 'Beautiful Birds Flying,' which was produced by Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi. Crane says of the song, 'I wrote it almost immediately after hearing about the horrific Mother Emanuel Church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina - which is a city I love in the state where I grew up... The song wrestles with the presence/recurrence of violence in the world and how to respond to that - feeling tendencies towards escapism, while also acknowledging an inevitable rootedness in places and patterns that are complicit.'

Anyone who has ever taken piano lessons, whether as a child or as an adult, will vouch for the fact that it is not an easy instrument to learn. Reading music simultaneously on two separate lines, instantly coordinating what the eye sees with what the hands play can take years to perfect. Now, imagine what this experience must be like for a person who has been blind since birth, for him or her to sit down at the piano, and play a concerto by Chopin. Nobuyuki Tsujii (or Nobu, as he prefers to be known), is that person. His performance with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra on September 20, 2018 at Carnegie Hall was nothing short of extraordinary.

This first-ever collaboration by the pair who have been partners for many years also marks the debut of the Joe Goode Performance Group venturing into producing and presenting outside artists. Girl is the drag-inflected culmination of Fauxnique and electronic musician Kate's longtime fascination with pairing intellectual rigor and critical theory to popular entertainment forms they adore-including music, contemporary dance and film-and letting fly with provocative and even thrilling results; among other elements and questions, Girl will deftly mine the "final girl" horror movie trope as an investigative tool, all as Halloween and the November mid-terms converge on the horizon.
