MTKCMusic Theatre Kansas City (MTKC) is well known around town for offering steady, top-quality musicals performed by the city's best youth talent. In 2016, MTKC introduced its first paid-professional production with The Last Five Years and the start of the longtime local theater company's expansion into professional-level performances. In 2020, Adelaide Writers' Week the second from Director Jo Dyer, contemplates one of the few things that incontrovertibly unites us all: Being Human. Running from Saturday 29 February to Thursday 5 March as part of the 60th anniversary Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Writers' Week will explore how humans engage with each other, with technology, and with the natural world.

Bodhi Tree Concerts brings its award-winning special holiday performance, All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914, back to the Veterans' Museum in Balboa Park for the third time since its premiere there in 2016. Conducted by Sacra/Profana's Juan Carlos Acosta, All Is Calm opens on Friday, November 15, with additional performances November 16 and 17. All profits will directly benefit the Veterans' Museum.

Numi Opera completes its inaugural season with its second productiona?"Erich Korngold's first opera Der Ring Des Polykrates. which he composed in 1914. Directed by Numi Opera Executive Director Gail R. Gordon and conducted by Francesco Milioto, the rarely performed opera will have two performances on Thursday, December 19 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 22 at 7:30pm at Zipper Hall at the Colburn School, located at 200 South Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles.

Theater Latté Da announces the cast of ALL IS CALM: THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE OF 1914, the poignant musical theatre work about the World War I Christmas truce, celebrating a homecoming after a successful Off-Broadway run in 2018 at the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture, for which it won a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience. Created by Peter Rothstein, the production combines period songs and firsthand accounts of this remarkable event and has become an annual holiday classic. Since its premiere in 2007, the a capella production is brought to life by a cast of 10 actor/singers and beautifully blends iconic WWI patriotic tunes, trench songs, medieval ballads and Christmas carols from England, Wales, France, Belgium and Germany with texts written by more than 30 World War I figures. This moving ode to peace is directed by Theater Latté Da's founding Artistic Director Peter Rothstein with vocal arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach. The production will feature the talents of the Minneapolis-based cast who starred in the highly-lauded Off-Broadway run. ALL IS CALM premiered in a live radio broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio on December 21, 2007.

The 4th annual Imagine This Women's International Film Festival (ITWIFF), unveiled its 2019 official lineup. This year's festival includes a happy hour, screenings, screenplay competition, networking parties, and a Seed & Spark Pitch workshop. Hatched, written and directed by Mara McEwin, is the original performance of a newborn chick emerging from her shell at sunrise to a strange and busy world. Told to the youngest of audience members 0-6, it is a first introduction into the theatre, while incorporating both the museum and farm. Performed through movement, handcrafted puppets, and very little human dialogue, the story is set amidst an American family farm. The chick is met by a feisty old rooster, a wobbly calf learning to walk, a gaggle of dancing chicks, a lamb, and a noisy nest of baby birds.

During the First World War and the following inflation, many German towns issued their own emergency currency, called Notgeld (emergency money). This money, usually in low denominations, was intended to combat shortages in small change at a local level. However, Notgeld quickly became a collectible and towns designed it to especially appeal to collectors. The colourful and intricate Notgeld notes are a fascinating and almost untapped source of the cultural and political history of the war and the early Weimar Republic. Many of the notes comment on the inflation or sport political messages. Because the relative majority of the notes come from small towns and villages, Notgeld additionally is a great source to explore the rural and small-town Weimar Republic, a chapter often forgotten in historiography. This is the first major exhibition on Notgeld in the UK.
