Clarksville's Roxy Regional Theatre transports audiences back to Baltimore - the capital of big hair and the city of big dreams - in 1962 with their production of Hairspray, now onstage through September 29. This weekend (which features the company's annual fundraising gala on Saturday night) kicks off the second weekend of the show's multi-week run in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

Electronic Music Conference for Asia / Pacific Region Announces Two Day Conference Program and EMCPLAY Parties

EMC is the leading electronic music industry event in the Asia Pacific region. Held in Sydney for a week in November from the 12th, it is the annual destination event for Australian and international creative professionals, curators, influencers and tastemakers. The week-long program includes a two-day conference program covering all facets of electronic music business and culture including keynotes, In Conversations, workshops, masterclasses, breakout sessions and networking events, plus EMCPLAY – five nights of after dark parties, club nights, film screenings and pop-ups. Across the parties and conference, the likes of Sasha, Gilles Peterson, Blond:Ish, Late Nite Tuff Guy and Greg Wilson as well as many more.

A New Production Of Saint-Saens's Samson ET DALILA Opens The Metropolitan Opera's 2018-19 Season

The Metropolitan Opera will open its 134th  season on Monday, September 24, with a new production of Saint-Saens's biblical tragedy Samson et Dalila, conducted by Sir Mark Elder and starring El?na Garan?a and Roberto Alagna, last seen together at the Met in acclaimed performances of Bizet's Carmen. Laurent Naouri co-stars as the High Priest opposite Elchin Azizov as the Philistine King Abimelech and Dmitry Belosselskiy as the Old Hebrew. Making his Met debut, Tony Award-winner Darko Tresnjak directs the first new Met production of the opera in 20 years.  The opening performance will be simulcast live to Times Square, and the October 20 matinee will be seen throughout the world, as part of The Met: Live in HD series.

Susan Hill's THE WOMAN IN BLACK To Kick Off Season At Cleveland Play House

Cleveland Play House (CPH) kicks off its 2018-2019 Season with the spine tingling tale of Susan Hill's The Woman in Black.  Hill's gothic ghost story, adapted for the stage by Stephen Mallatratt, will star Bradley Armacost as Arthur Kipps and Adam Wesley Brown as the Actor in the show that Daily Mail called, "A nerve-shredding experience."  Director Robin Herford will recreate his original staging from the London West End.  The American premiere of the West End Production is produced by PW Productions and Pemberley Productions.  Previews begin on September 15th, with press opening on September 21st at the Allen Theatre in Playhouse Square.

After their opening night was rained out on Friday, July 20th, the diverse and youthful cast of Hairspray at The Jenny Wiley Theatre, an outdoor amphitheatre in Prestonsburg, Kentucky--population 3,255 -- celebrated their work and art by transforming a local pizzeria into a piano bar and joyfully singing through a concert of the show for an enthusiastic local crowd. The second performance on Saturday, July 21st, made it to the end of Act 1... when another severe storm broke loose.

ZHONG-JING FANG, soloist of American Ballet Theatre, PAOLA HARTLEY, former principal dancer of Ballet Arizona, KARL CONDON, former principal dancer of the Boston Ballet, and ILYA KOZADAYEV, former soloist of the Houston Ballet will be on the Shreveport Dance Academy's Summer Intensive to be held in Shreveport, Louisiana.   Zhong-Jing Fang and Paola Hartley will be on the faculty from July 23-27, 2018, and Karl Condon and  Ilya Kozadayev will be on the faculty from July 30-August 3, 2018.

Last night women's champion Friar Gloria Allred resplendent in an attractive pants and gold jacket was escorted through the front door of The Monastery for that time-honored Friar privilege of being Roasted.
