The fabled date is getting nearer!  For months, May 17 has loomed large in the calendar of London theatreland as the signal for playhouses to reopen their doors after a five-month lockdown - a period of closure that has, of course, been much longer in New York for the simple reason that London theaters did at least flicker partially to life last autumn.

Historic Deertrees Theatre has announced its 85th anniversary summer season. The quintessential performing arts venue, providing performing arts entertainment to the Greater Maine region since 1936, presents an eclectic offering for the summer of 2021, featuring an open house, theatrical productions, comedy and several fundraisers. 

Curve's streamed production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical reunited company members from the award-winning 2017 Made at Curve touring production. The show ran 22 December 2020 to 17 January 2021 and was seen by almost 15,000 people across 45 countries.

Based on the unpublished play Some Christmas Letters by Tony-winning playwright Terrance McNally, Three Decembers follows the story of a famous actress, Madeline Mitchell, and her two adult children, Beatrice and Charlie over three decades (1986, 1996, and 2006). With a witty and touching libretto by Gene Scheer and a soaring musical score by Jake Heggie, Three Decembers is a 90-minute fullhearted American opera about family – the ones we are born into and those we create. This Spotlight focuses on John Wuchte, a talented actor/director/writer/composer and amazing Tribal Acting theater creator, who I first met during last year's Hollywood Fringe Festival when I attended his masterful musical production Scarlett Fever which told the true story of the great search to find an actress to portray Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind in 1939. The production utilized John's unique style of performance, which he calls Tribal Acting; a combination of movement, gesture, song and dance, all accompanied by live percussion. And I was hooked!
