Porchlight Music Theatre announced that Lorenzo Rush Jr has replaced James Earl Jones II in Porchlight Revisits They're Playing Our Song, music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager and book by Neil Simon, with direction and choreography by Christopher Carter and musical direction by Andra Velis Simon. Porchlight Revisits They're Playing our Song is presented for three-nights-only Tuesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 8 at 7:15 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's Merrily We Roll Along (previews begin January 26) at Porchlight's new home, The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street. Tickets for They're Playing Our Song are $35. All tickets include access to the popular pre-performance event, Behind the Show Backstory, a multimedia presentation, created and hosted by Porchlight Music Theatre Artistic Director Michael Weber that discusses the evening's production including the show's creative history, juicy backstage gossip and the state of the art on Broadway that season. Roanoke Children's Theatre To Start The Conversation On Distracted Driving

A new study by Liberty Mutual Insurance and SADD reveals teens become riskier drivers as they enter senior year. The study "finds that older teen drivers are overconfident and perceive themselves as safer drivers despite experiencing more accidents and near misses (57 percent of seniors) than their younger peers (34 percent of sophomores)." Roanoke Children's Theatre will ignite the conversation on distracted driving with the world premiere of ILY: HANG UP & DRIVE, part of the RCT4TEENS programming. There will be public performances of ILY: HANG UP & DRIVE on March 1 and 2, 2018. Performances will be held in the Black Box Theatre at the Jefferson Center (541 Luck Avenue SW).

The Penny Seats are buzzing with anticipation as they prepare to bring the first show of their 2018 season, EDGES, written by Tony-Award and Golden Globe winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hanson, Dogfight, James and the Giant Peach, La La Land, The Greatest Showman), back to the site of its World Premier: The Kerrytown Concert House. Pasek and Paul wrote the show as students at the University of Michigan, and debuted it at the Concert House in 2005.

Today, the Royal Shakespeare Company announces the child casting for the first five venues of the Matilda The Musical 2018/19 UK and Ireland Tour. The title role will be shared by Annalise Bradbury, Lara Cohen, Poppy Jones and Nicola Turner.
