The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Miramax is joining forces with Todd Strauss-Schulson (ISN'T IT ROMANTIC/THE FINAL GIRLS) and Matt Fogel (THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART) on their next project, SILENT RETREAT. The film will be directed by Strauss-Schulson and was written by both Fogel and Strauss Schulson. Pre-production has started and it will shoot in late Spring/early Summer supervised by Matthew Anderson at Miramax.

Robert ('Bob') Ullman (left), the legendary theatre press agent, whose career included Ethel Merman and Mary Martin: Together on Broadway, A Chorus Line (from workshop to Public Theater to Broadway), Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in The Visit, Lauren Bacall in Cactus Flower, The Dining Room, Driving Miss Daisy, Sunday in the Park with George, and over 150 additional Broadway and off-Broadway plays and musicals, died on July 31, 2019 in Bayshore, Long Island, New York. He was 97. The cause of death was cardiac arrest. Bob's death was announced by Rev. Joshua Ellis, a long-time Ullman friend, a former Broadway press agent, and now, an Interspiritual minister.

​​​​​​​Amazon Prime Video announced that Australian actress, writer and producer Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect, The Hustle, Isn't It Romantic) has signed on to host and executive produce the first Australian Amazon Original series, LOL: Last One Laughing. The comedy-variety series, produced with Endemol Shine Australia, will feature a star-studded cast of ten Australian comedic actors and stand-ups competing to make each other laugh first. The final comedian left standing will win the grand prize of AUD$ 100,000. This first Australian Amazon Original series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories in 2020.
