Directed by The Speakeasy Society's co-artistic director Julianne Just, Machinal is what happens when we push against the prescribed roles of society and how much we force ourselves into those roles, and how we feel trapped by them , said Just.

On the occasion of the new movie adaptation of Wonderstruck, directed by Todd Haynes, Museum of the Moving Image will present the screening series Inspiring Wonderstruck, featuring some of the movies that inspired both the book and the movie, from October 13 through 22, 2017. On October 14, during the opening weekend of the series, the Museum will present a preview screening of Wonderstruck with Selznick, production designer Mark Friedberg, and costume designer Sandy Powell in person, followed by a book signing with Selznick.

Queenie and Burrs are the story of a once steamy love gone stale. Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party tells their story as they lash out in manipulation and jealousy. Directed by Allison Arkell Stockman, The Constellation Theatre's production opened on September 21. Told against the backdrop of a seedy New York City apartment in the 1920's, this musical is good dirty fun. Belvoir has announced the productions making up their 2018 season, launched at an event at Belvoir St Theatre.

Museum of the Moving Image will host one of the most exciting film events of the year: a presentation of an epic trilogy of films directed by Yuliya Solntseva, two of which will be shown in their spectacularly colorful, original 70mm formats. This marks the first time that all three films have been screened together in North America. Solntseva is the first female director to win Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival, a feat not repeated until Sofia Coppola won the same award for Beguiled this year. Yuliya Solntseva's Ukrainian Trilogy will be shown August 26 and 27.
