Last summer, a group form the Ohio Humanities Council visited Piqua to consider it as one of their Ohio Chautauqua sites for 2017.  Unfortunately, they were not selected, but they did encourage the group to develop their own Chautauqua event.  Well, give folks from Piqua a challenge and they deliver.  So a dedicated committee officially began working on Piqua Chautauqua! The dates for this event will be September 19, 20 & 21, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and will take place at Hance Pavilion, located in Fountain Park in Piqua.

Oshkosh Corporation, Fox Communities Credit Union, and Refuge Foundation for the Arts are pleased to announce a new partnership celebrating a holistic approach to strengthening our community. Through a series of events titled Feed The Body, Feed The Soul, the partnership's focus is to raise awareness and funds to assist with basic needs and access to the arts in Northeast Wisconsin.

Yonder Window Theatre Company and Parity Productions have announced that writer/performer Romy Nordlinger's Places is among the selected performances for this year's East to Edinburgh at 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director). Places will play 6 performances in July before traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland for the 2017 Fringe Festival where it will have 25 performances over the month of August (4th - 27th).

This summer, we throw up open the doors to our Dacha: a Russian country house, owned and peopled by the Popov Family and their friends and family in Vyritsa, just outside Petrograd. It's 1917 and revolution is in the air. Over the course of a month, our time-travelling Dacha gradually moves through the turbulent year, a century ago, exploring the changing environment and leadership, through performance and conversation.

Dash Arts presents a month-long enchanted performance space, modelled on the iconic Russian summer house set within the revolutionary turmoil of 1917. The Dacha acts as a backdrop and set for a whole series of different performances, delving into life in 1917 through the eyes of the Popov family dacha in Vyritsa, several hours outside Petrograd.

Kicking off Season #2 for Woven Theatre is the original Uncanny by Miles Gatrell, running June 29-July 9 at the Belmont Little Theater beneath Hail Hall: Imagine if Wes Anderson directed the Buffy Cast in an X-Men movie.

On Saturday, June 10, historian and best-selling author Timothy Snyder will attend the opening of Yara Arts Group's new theatre piece with poetry, '1917-2017: Tychyna, Zhadan & the Dogs' at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre, 66 E. 4th Street.  The performance is introduced by a live installation featuring New York poet Bob Holman performing his own poems inspired by Mr. Snyder's book, 'On Tyranny: 20 Lessons from the 20th Century,' which is now a NY Times Best Seller.
