Godspell Revival

Godspell will play its final performance on Broadway today, June 24th, 2012, at Circle in the Square Theatre. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you a multimedia flashback chronicling Godspell's beginning and journey to its final show on the Great White Way.

BWW has confirmed that the cast, crew and investors were informed pre-show this evening that GODSPELL will play its final performance on Broadway on June 24th, 2012 at Circle in the Square Theatre.

Today, June 8, GODSPELL will play a special added matinee performance at 3 p.m.

Those who closely follow Broadway Grosses have been keeping an eye on GODSPELL's numbers as of late and wondering what the future held for the musical, which was recently announced for a performance on Sunday night's Tonys. Lead producer Ken Davenport has shed some light on the show's health in a new blog entry noting that after a slew of recent promotions ranging from 'Pay Your Age' to the 'Cast of 2032' and a Fan Appreciation Day:

Yesterday, May 23, the company of Godspell celebrated their Academy Award-winning writer Stephen Schwartz in a one-night-only concert featuring songs from Schwartz's Pippin, Wicked, The Baker's Wife, The Magic Show, Working, My Son Pinocchio, Children of Eden, Rags, "Pocahontas", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "The Prince of Egypt", "Enchanted" and more. Following an afternoon of open-call auditions for kids last month in which more than 500 kids (ages six to 16) were seen, the creative and producing team of GODSPELL selected five boys and five girls (plus one 'swing') to perform a special encore number at the curtain call on Tuesday, May 22. BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the revival of GODSPELL on Broadway, despite a lack of Tony nominations, will make an appearance on the 2012 broadcast to perform a selection from the musical. At this time, there is no official word or confirmation on who, or what the cast will be performing.

Tonight, May 23, join the company of Godspell on Broadway as they celebrate their Academy Award-winning writer Stephen Schwartz in a one-night-only concert. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, along with the City of New York and the United States Navy, celebrates the 25th annual Fleet Week, to be held from May 23 - May 28, 2012. Fleet Week is America's premier tribute and "thank you" to the men and women who serve in the armed forces.

Telly Leung, currently appearing on Broadway in GODSPELL, plays Birdland tonight, May 14 under the direction of Alan Muraoka and featuring musical direction from Gary Adler.

Rose Caiola, who is the producer and co-writer of the off-Broadway musical hit "Freckleface The Musical" (based on the popular children's book by Julianne Moore) and also made her Broadway debut as a producer this year with "Godspell" at Circle in the Square, now adds film to her growing resume with "First Position," a film by director Bess Kargman, for which she serves as Executive Producer. The film which has received rave reviews across the country was screened this past weekend at the Elinor Bunin Monroe Theatre/Film Society of Lincoln Center on West 65th Street.
