Oregon Shakespeare Festival today announced its 2022 Season, making a joyous return to repertory programming after two years of extreme uncertainty—and emerging with an ambitious vision of theatre as an accessible artform that can boldly meet our current moment.

For the first time since 2013, the music of Richard Wagner returns to LA Opera on October 18, 2021, with a masterpiece of 19th-century German Romantic opera, Tannhäuser.

LA Opera opens its 2021/22 season on September 18, 2021, with Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore, marking its official return to fully staged productions for in-person audiences for the first time since March 8, 2020. Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and American Conservatory Theater announced today an original film of The Bushwick Starr’s production of Animal Wisdom, created by and starring Heather Christian. Animal Wisdom is currently being filmed at Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, D.C., in March of 2021, with a streaming release slated for Spring 2021. 

LA Opera board chairman Marc Stern and his wife Eva have established an annual $50,000 award to celebrate and support extraordinarily gifted artists in opera: the Eva and Marc Stern Artist Award. The new award will recognize artists with deep connections to LA Opera and will serve as an expression of gratitude for past and future artistic contributions to the company.
