59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to launch the 2018 Subscription Series with BALLS, written by Kevin Armento and Bryony Lavery and directed by Ianthe Demos and Nick Flint with movement direction byNatalie Lomonte. Produced by One Year Lease Theater Company and Stages Repertory Theatre,BALLS begins performances on Tuesday, January 16 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 25. Press Opening is Wednesday, January 24 at 7 PM. The performance schedule isTuesday Friday at 7 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 7 PM; and Sunday at 2 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison). Single tickets are $25 - $70 ($25 - $49 for 59E59 Members). Nominations for THE CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS were announced today. Fox Searchlight's THE SHAPE OF WATER leads the pack with a whopping 14 nominations. Best Picture and Director contenders included DUNKIRK, CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, LADY BIRD and THE POST, each with eight nominations.

On Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 7:30pm, The Greenwich Village Orchestra (GVO) performs Resistance, a thrilling concert of grand orchestral repertoire including Rachmaninoff's Vocalise featuring GVO concertmaster Andrew Pak, Michael Daugherty's Raise the Roof with principal timpanist Gerard Gordon in the athletic solo role, and Shostakovich's defiant Symphony No. 10 at Good Shepherd-Faith Presbyterian Church (152 West 66th St.). The concert is part of GVO's 2017-2018 season On the Town, a celebration of its home borough of Manhattan led by Music Director Barbara Yahr.

Free tickets can now be reserved for the reading series presented by Corkscrew Theater Festival, running August 7 - September 3 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street, Manhattan). A joint effort from The Brewing Dept. and Fortress Productions, this new summer theater festival provides early-career artists a high level of production support and features five world premieres and five readings performed in repertory over four weeks. Special attention has been given to theater makers who are developing work through innovative and unusual collaborative models. A majority of the participating artists identify as women.

On Friday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m., mothers, family members, musicians, and partners from New York City and across the country will gather to celebrate original songs created as part of Carnegie Hall's Lullaby Project, a program which pairs pregnant women and new mothers with professional artists to write personal lullabies for their babies. In New York City, the project reaches mothers in hospitals, homeless shelters, foster care centers, and at Rikers Island Correctional Facility. Extending across the country, Lullaby Project partner organizations work with families in over fifteen communities. The Lullaby Project supports maternal health, aids child development, and strengthens the bond between parent and child. The year-end concert on June 2, which will feature performances by mothers and artists locally as well as from partner sites across the nation, will be made available to a wider audience through a livestream on facebook.com/CarnegieHall.
